An LSD, by definition, allows some slippage, enabling the wheels to turn at different speeds when cornering. In some circumstances, they will still allow a lifted wheel to spin off road, halting momentum. A locked diff, like an Air Locker, gives a 100% lock across an axle meaning equal drive is sent to each wheel. This is a far more effective traction aid off road, requiring less momentum and enabling greater control over challenging obstacles.
