Hi Fukawi1, an open diff will always send drive to the wheel on each axle with the least traction. That means, if you have one wheel in the air, drive will be sent to this wheel and the opposing wheel (on the same axle) will receive no drive. If you have 2 wheels in the air (one front and one rear), you won't have any drive going to the wheels left on the ground. In this situation, the only way to have equal drive going to all 4 wheels is to fit front and rear locking differentials.

Hi there, Air Lockers actually allow you to drive with much greater control and with less reliance on momentum when compared to open diffs. This in turn reduces the strain on the drive train and shock loading associated with rapidly spinning wheels (when lifted) coming to an abrupt stop when they come back into contact with the track. If you contact your local ARB store/stockist, they'll be more than happy to discuss this with you in detail.

Hi Danny, it'd be worth checking out our other videos (Air Locker vs LSD vs Traction Control Parts 1 & 2) to see the difference between traction control systems and Air Locker.

Even without the centre difflock on the Landcruiser, in my 2003 Hilux, it's Stihl only a one wheel drive until I select the front diff and then I'm in two wheel drive, one on the front and one on the back!

Hmm, don't most 100 series LCs have A-Trac to mimic some of the locking capabilities of lockers by applying brake pressure to the wheel that's lost traction?

Would these work with the Dana 30 front end found on the jeep liberty?

ARB4WD, don't lockers make it easier to break the Ring and Pinion and/or axle shafts because of the stress?

Ah I remember that show/showground... Man I miss the QLD. If I didn't live in the Pacific NW I'd have moved back ages ago aye.

@acteuro03 electronic diff locks are only good up to a point, would not like to be towing off road with a factory difflock fitted.

he says that a 100 series land cruiser is a one wheel drive when 4x4 (/center diff lock) is not ingaged ..
but the power of land cruisers is divided over front and rear axle so one wheel of both axles is always turning (like this hilux)
i know that i can spin al 4 wheels on my dad's 120 series, without 4x4 ingaged, on let's say snow (easiest to do) instead of just 2 wheels. In harder conditions the same thing happens as with this hilux ..
