In some dry, rocky soil here in central Texas, I found the dirt would crumble and fall out of the post-hole digger, and pulling it out by hand was tedious. Instead, I'd break up a few inches of soil with the post-hole digger, and then pull the loose stuff out with my Shop-Vac. I'd need to pause periodically to pull a rock out of the nozzle, but it worked pretty well, though that'd be a little more difficult farther from an electrical source.

Concrete seems to be the best option here. Post driving is dependent on soil type. Awesome video overall.
Thanks for sharing this video

Thanks so much for the comparison, and I only have one post to do. I have never set a post before, and I will be doing this on my own. This video will help a lot.

Nice demonstration of the different techniques! Would you ever consider digging and concreting a steel post to later be used with a vinyl fence? There's a product called a "donut" that slides over the steel post and then screws into it, and then you slide the vinyl post over that donut and put a screw through the vinyl into the donut. You may have heard about this method before.

The benefit, as I see it, would be to have a smaller diameter hole(steel post as opposed to the 5x5 vinyl) and I guess an easier time repairing if a vinyl post ever cracked or something. I'm building my own vinyl fence in the coming weeks and would appreciate any thoughts. Thanks!

Do you need to brace the post to keep it plumb? How do you do that?

Great video, I’ve been trying to figure out what to do for my fields. Another struggle is which posts to use since I’m in Oregon on a hillside (lots of moisture) are those galvanized posts and best ways to attach fencing to galvanized posts would be great? :)

Fast 2K fence setting material is far better than Sika.

Just a FYI

Americans use protection goggles and gloves for everything xD
You aren't doing anything that pose a risk to your eyes, and you don't need protection gloves... at least not during the measuring part.
