Android 9 Pie Review: Best features in the latest update! [Android P]

Android Pie is a big, beefy update that changes and improves a lot of things. There's the obvious, user-facing, UI-paradigm-shifting stuff. There's stuff under the hood to help you use your phone less, and make it last longer when you do. New emoji, *of course*. Improvements to biometrics and indoor navigation. And a whole lot of little things that, if you're a phone nerd like me, you'll appreciate when your device gets the update. Let's take a deep dive into Android 9.0 Pie!

Okay the adaptive battery is real! Noticed that my battery is not draining as fast as it did in Oreo. I like that it also gives you the estimated time of when your battery will die as opposed to a number of hours left.

Here are the couple things I hate that they changed. You used to be able to swipe down once to get to settings but now you have to swipe down twice. Other thing, was from the Do Not Disturb tile, you could immediately set a DnD duration (like for 2 hours) and this was handy when going to say the movies. Now you forced in to the DnD settings, then you have to click duration (so 2 steps now instead of 1)

I like Android Pie (because it fits with the version number perfectly). I was pretty sure that these names would be used when the beta versions of Android P came out: Pie, Popsicle, Peppermint, and Pistachio Ice Cream (even though it was leaked, I doubted they'd name it that because it's too long). Oh, and since Android is a bit more complicated than in previous versions, I think the name "pie" makes more sense since it's an advanced mathematical term.

The app opening animation looks startlingly like iOS! Though I'm glad to see that they at least made an attempt to make the gestures not a direct copy of iOS. It's very clear where they got the idea of sliding the bottom bar to switch between apps, though, as well as the markup app.
