Why is Oklahoma seeing an increase in wildfires?

In the last three years, the state of Oklahoma has seen three megafires. Officials classify a fire as a megafire when it burns more than 100,000 acres. In the last week, more than 300,000 acres have burned across the state. WPEC lead meteorologist Jeff Berardelli joins CBSN to discuss why this increase is occurring, where the fires are burning and when the state can expect to see some relief.

This is B.S. the reason for more wildfires, is the state made it much harder for ranchers to burn their own land by implementing strict burning rules. We used to burn every year and had never had wildfires even through times of drought. In the last 12 years people quit doing controlled burns because of all the rules. State/fed leases are allowing less and less cattle to graze allowing for bigger grass. Also urban encroachment, A doctor buys 160-1200 acres and lets it grow up with cedar trees so they can hunt. Has nothing to do with climate change. We have gone through 10 droughts in the last 130 years and had never had fire problems.

Do ya think the lack of fire mitigation is a contributing factor to the rapid growth? Now more than ever people are controlling how fire is used and expect extinguishment fast no matter what. Fire is an essential part of regrowing the forests, river bottoms, prairies, mane so on. Have you ever noticed that after a large fire rain follows? Maybe the smoke helps facilitate storm development.
