White Blood Cells under the Microscope

Microscopic footage of different white blood cell types found in blood. Some of this footage is sped up to show how phagocytes move around and look for pathogens. This crawling motion is called amoeboid movement and it is used by many different eukaryotes.

The microscope magnification of each shot is shown in the bottom right hand corner. Footage that has been sped up is indicated so at the bottom of the shot.

I just recently learned that white blood cells actually move independently (unlike red blood cells that just go with the flow), and go around the body eating stuff that's not supposed to be there
