This New Window Will TRANSFORM Our Tiny Bathroom!

Considering it’s a tiny house, our old stone home already has 3 generous windows which all let the Portuguese sunshine & fresh air flow in 🌞 However, the (future) micro bathroom is discretely tucked away under the (future) staircase with no access to natural light. So this week we’re creating a new window opening for the bathroom, to transform it from a gloomy room with no natural light into a well lit & ventilated space! But it's not an easy going job! Breaking through the 50cm thick stone walls, cutting the feature stones & then raising the lintels into their new position will take care, brute force & power tools!

What a good idea about the window. Ricky don't be despondent about not having got far with the window, I think you did a fantastic job and got far. Do not forget you had to get the stones out, then size them and put them back in. Time to bring in the best vole predators…owls. Find the owl that best hunts voles and bring a pair of them in…build a house for them that is secluded but near the garden where you know voles are active. Owls are your new best friends, the flying type. Your neighbors will love you too! The pair will create a family and they will need lots of voles for generations.

Well done folks. That's quite an effort to create a window opening in an existing stone wall and get it as square as you have done. It will certainly enable a lot more light to come into your bathroom area, and if you make the window able to be opened, then that will allow moisture to escape and dry out the room (helping to prevent mould). Definitely a good idea to use the lift to do the hard word of lifting the blocks as you don't want any back injuries trying to do it yourself. Using one of those is a bit slow, but it isn't a race, and you do want to do a good job of it. Using a paint to match the shutters would be very nice, even if you do have to repaint the shutters to match the exterior work.
Your home is going to look terrific when you finally get it completed.
