Take note. This is how you do a review and or instructional. Good lighting focus and clear educated instructions. This is how you get people to take you seriously. Good work Dave.

Mr. Cheung,

I‘m an engineer and have a masters degree - so I have seen and made instructional videos before. This presentation of yours is one of the best in class that I have seen.

Thank you.

I have been using my D750 for almost 4 years and this is more help than I've gotten from reading and watching 100s of videos. I can't thank you enough.

Treasure trove of info specially for a beginner like me. This video has probably saved me days of trial and error, reading the manual, watching videos etc. I'm sure I'll be watching this video over and over while my experience grows. Thank you so much. Keep safe and God bless.

Absolutely the best tutorial I have found on how to use this Nikon 750D. Now I am a videographer and have shot with everything from the super heavy ENG cameras with the monster heavy duty
3/4" Record deck that weighed a ton and that damn cord that when from the record deck up to the camera, and that damn cord would always get caught on something especially working in tv news and your'e chasing down a guy for the infamous shaky 10 second Perp shot lol. Not to mention wearing that 20 pound battery belt for the camera light which was way to bright!
Of course now a days I shoot with a pro consumer camcorder which weighs less than 5 pounds! And of course now everyone has switched over to shooting news and interviews with still cameras. So I am still getting use to shooting with a small DSLR camera especially when shooting B-roll and I have to look at this tiny little viewfinder. Yes I know they sell larger monitors to attach to your still cameras but we are still easing our way into transitioning to still cameras. But your Tutorial was great and you made it so it's much easier to set certain buttons to save time and effort in finding the correct settings. The issue we are having is that we shoot a ton of portraits and use LED continuous lighting.
We have 5 lights. One for the Key Light the second for the fill light and 2 for the background and one smaller one for a backlight. Now when we shoot the pictures and the camera automatically gives you a quick preview of the shot or we press the button to look at the picture and zoom in to check our focus. Well everything looks perfect when we preview the pictures in the camera but once we open the pictures in Photoshop or lightroom the pictures look dark. Like at least 2 to 3 steps down. It's easy to fix in lightroom or photoshop and then the pictures look great but. something is not right when we have to continuously have to fix the pictures in post? When we take pictures inside with or without a flash and even outside and I check the pictures in the cameras LCD viewfinder and they look great and when we open them up in photoshop they look just as good as in the cameras lcd viewfinder. Now would it have anything to do with shooting portraits with the constant LED lighting. We usually shoot with the LED lights at 5600K so maybe we should try a warmer temperature and change the lighting to 3200K? And we dial in the color temperature on the camera to match the LED lights so I am at a loss why these portraits keep coming out dark? Anyone have any insights to what I might be doing wrong? Thanks

I have been contemplating an upgrade from my d7000 to a d750 or possibly a d810 and have watched MANY video reviews on youtube and read many reviews on blogs etc. The d750 appears to be the natural choice, for me, and your video has been the most in depth, truest, unbiased and helpful from all that I've watched or read thus far. I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to make it. This camera is certainly packed with features that many others haven't touched on and the choice for me is even clearer now. I hope others on the fence about this camera come to land on your video, thanks again!

I rarely leave responses to YouTube, but I'll make an exception here. In so many ways this video has been extremely helpful. You suggest what to do (as do others) but then you go on to explain why doing it as you suggest is an improvement.

I've had my D750 for half a year, and decided I would try just about all your settings (but not the back-up settings in case your hand got tired). Everything works as you describe, and it makes things easier for me, once I remember what is done where.

Just a few things I do differently from what you describe now. Rather than shoot in (M)anual mode, which I still do at times, I set U1 for scenery photos and U2 for photos with people. I guess that's not such a big deal as I decided that the only way I will get good at RAW is to start using it for any photos I care about, and those settings almost always give me a good exposure, or at least a good starting point.

You ended up using autofocus - continuous, rather than autofocus - single. After reading about autofocus - auto, I decided to try that. It not only does what continuous does, I've read that it attempts to focus on a person's eyes. While watching the focus point move around on the screen, it does seem to be attempting to do that.

People have told me for years that I should use the back-button for focus, and it never made sense to me. After thinking about what you explained, I wish I'd have switched years ago.

Assuming you're still using the D750 for lots of photo work, are there any things that you do differently for landscape type photos, or for photographing people (not weddings)?

I've had Nikon cameras since the 1960's, using a Nikon SP for ages. Things sure have changed. Compared to my D2h, D2x, an D3, your suggestions allow me to concentrate more on the "photo" and less on the "camera settings".

My D750 just arrived yesterday. Upgrading from a D5100. What a difference in bodies! You're hitting nearly all of the customizations I was looking for in the mice-type manual. Thank you!

If you are an established NIKON user and you do not have the patience to dig into User's Manual? This is THE VIDEO to watch.
This is an overwhelmingly AWESOME video to use for NIKONIANS...And the NIKON newbies...
In fact, because of this video, I have become more proficient with my old NIKON D300 DSLR at the convenience of my D750.
Thank you Dave Cheug!
Cheers!
