The Mini 7 is a stopgap to get rid of binned A17Pro chip. They will update it again after a year, with the binned A18Pro chip (1 less GPU core?), and possibly (hopefully) with 90hz display.

In my wish list is:
- OLED 90HZ
- FaceID

iPad 11 will update with A18 chip or a binned version of it with less GPU cores or something.
iPad Air will update with M3 or even jump to the M4 directly if they kill the M3 chip and focus on the most efficient 2nd generation 3nm process of the M4. And will add better keyboard.
iPad Pro will update to M5.

I just hope the iPad Mini 8 comes out in 2026 and not 2027. Whichever updates they choose from are welcomed. It’s such a great device to have as complementary to your iPad, whether it’s a regular, pro, or air. Even as your main device. I never thought I would be using mine as much as I do.

A foldable Mini would be awesome! I just bought a used Mini 6 cellular yesterday though, because the 7 didn’t seem to be worth it and I wanted to try the mini again, because I really liked my mini 3 i had 10 years ago

My bet is they purposely put in the A17 Pro because OLED needs to release on the iPad Air first. Once the Air 7 releases, they will later release the mini 8 with OLED, combined with the A19 Pro (skipping a generation to make the performance comparison larger). Once this is done, they will immediately make the device thinner, just like the pro since the OLED upgrade. If iPhones get thunderbolt by then maybe with the A19 Pro, the mini will get it aswell. Maybe the mini 9 gets 120Hz, so they can make people justify upgrading

I think it'd be great if they tried out the tube form factor of the iPod mini and iPod nano 2nd, 4th, and 5th gen! ESP with the tapered sides of the 4th and 5th gen

I agree. I have the Mini 6 and love the form factor. I upgraded to an 11” M4 but returned it because the design was inferior. The Mini is too popular and too good for Apple not to evolve it. Roll on the Mini Pro! Enjoying your channel.

I am not so sure about the foldable iPad mini, but I notice one thing, some time before the big redesign, apple have a slightly different design choice, like, before the MacBook Pro M1 Pro, they have 16 inch MacBook Pro intel version.
I kind of hope it is the same situation for the iPad Pro and mini, as now the bezel is a bit outdated, especially for the iPad mini, if the mini keep in the same size but follow the bezel any modern MacBook have, that will add a lot of reading space.

Allow a SIM card as an option to use as a phone for the few that would do it (me), put a pro chip in it, make a case that has a flexible keyboard/stand and place holders for ear buds in the iPad mini case, up the color scheme(more options), give it the same cameras as iPad Pro, a smaller Apple Pencil ✏️ and charge 2, 500 for the whole package…….watch it sell out in seconds.

With respect.. I think you are off your rocker. The iPad Mini 7 is not an old design, remember the iPad 5 still had a Home Button. It’s only in its 2nd generation with no Home Button. I think Apple is content with the mini as it is and will give it smaller upgrades as it continues. There is talk about Apple giving all their non Pro devices a 90 Hz screen. Plus the chip upgrade…. It got the new Apple Pencil upgrade

The biggest disappointment i have with the mini is it doesn’t support Stage Manager which is totally ridiculous from a hardware standpoint…. Most of my workflow is web based. So for me to carry around the mini 6 form factor and just plug it into a monitor at work would not only be seriously cool, but would be the most mobile computing device out there. I have a MacBook Air M3, but honestly i could get by with only iPadOS.

Apple isn't going to do any bang for your buck foldable or hybrids ever, if they were they would've made a MacBook with a touchscreen by now which tons of people would buy. Apple wants you to buy buy and buy again.
