PEANUT BUTTER PIE - Perfect Dessert for Peanut Butter Lovers!
25 Oreo’s (regular not double stuff) crushed
4 tablespoons melted butter
1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
8-oz cream cheese - softened
1 cup Jif creamy peanut butter (or brand of your choice)
1 ¼ cup powdered sugar
Reese’s peanut butter cups (optional garnish)
Chocolate Candy bar shaved (optional garnish)
**See Note for substitutions below**
Crust: Mix crushed Oreo’s and melted butter together and then press into a 9” pie plate using a measuring cup to smooth out the bottom and along the sides. Bake at 350 for 5-7 minutes. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool on a wire cooling rack.
Filling: Using a stand mixer (or hand mixer) with a whisk attachment, add heavy whipping cream and cream of tartar. Slowly begin whisking and increase gradually (about every 15 seconds) until at high speed. Continue whisking until stiff peaks form. This should take about 2-4 minutes depending on your mixer. Remove whipped cream from the bowl and transfer to another container. Place in the refrigerator while you mix the remaining ingredients.
Peanut Butter: In the stand mixer, change to the paddle attachment.
Mix together the following: softened cream cheese, creamy peanut butter, and powdered sugar. Mix until well combined. Set aside.
Combine Whipped Cream and Peanut Butter Mixture: Retrieve the whipped cream from the refrigerator and gently fold in the peanut butter mixture. Once the mixture is well combined, spoon into the Oreo crust. Spread evenly over the pie plate and garnish with Reese’s cups, shaved chocolate, or peanuts.
Place the pie in the refrigerator for at least one hour to set up before serving. Enjoy!
Note: If you don’t want to use whipping cream you can substitute 1 8-oz package of Cool-Whip.
If you don’t want to make your own crust, you can also purchase a chocolate pre-made pie crust.
