Cleaning your E-Bike requires a bit more care and attention compared to a normal mountain bike, but that doesn’t mean that it’s difficult. With some simple bike cleaners and water you can make your EMTB shiny with ease. Let Chris show you how 🚿

Remember to remove your battery before cleaning your bike, and avoid pressure washing. Whilst the battery and motor connections are designed to be water resistant, treat them with care and dry them thoroughly.

Can we have a video showing how to clean a dirty ebike?

Chris, are you 100% sure on a Specialized you're supposed to remove the battery? The Specialized Retailer Technical Manual says: "Always turn the battery off and disconnect the charger prior to cleaning the bicycle. Leave the battery attached to the bicycle when cleaning the bicycle; the battery prevents water from contacting electrical interfaces." And their online guide also says "Cleaning
Wash the bike with the battery installed and with the harness plugged in. Since the connection is waterproof, washing the bike with the harness plugged in minimizes the chance of contamination in the contacts."

I've always washed mine with the battery in and never had any issue. Low pressure hose and gentle scrub with some good mucoff products and all is well!

Should have cleaned it when it was dirty.

Oh the 2019 Specialized Levo Manual, Specialized recommends washing the bike with the battery connected and using a bucket of water and brushes. They advised even not to use a hose.

Lmao this video treats the bike like a bloody baby, waterproofing is nothing new and if the bike can't handle being washed by a hose, then it's not fit for purpose. Look at how people wash dirt bikes with a power washer, there's no reason emtb's shouldn't be the same

Nonsense, just wash them as you wash any other bike. 10 ebikes over 8 years and I've never had any issues.

Use silicone grease for all your electrical connections on the battery terminals and handle bar displays connections also on the battery locking keys and bolts

Totally wrong, especially concerning the Kenevo.. It's the point where he says don't point the hose at the cable ports because you'll get water inside, when they just lead to the same massive opening he just created by taking the battery off, that alone shows this video up for the ill thought out drivel that it is..
Instead of putting what will be a wet cloth around your electrical connector, which now WILL get water in it, LEAVE YOUR BATTERY ON AND LET IT DO ITS JOB OF KEEPING WATER OUT! It has a watertight seal around the connector and it works. The battery itself is waterproof, the motor unit is waterproof, all of the voids around both lead to a drain hole under the motor, the bike is designed to allow for water getting in! BUT! YOU DO NOT WANT WATER EVER GETTING INTO THE CONNECTOR! This video is bad advice for Kenevo/Levo owners, leave your battery on! Just treat the electrical parts like bearings and do not fire high pressure water directly at them, simple.

We can always use plastic cling film to cover the port and switch..almost all kitchens have them. Can also be used to cover the front suspension openings..it makes a very tight seal.

Quite a nice Video, even tho Chris is really taking a little bit too much care about the Water in my opinion. It is kind of sweet to see, how delicate he sprinkles the water on his beloved Bike. 😁
Nice Video Guys 👍

Good to know that washing them is this much of an hassle. by the time you prep an e-bike for a wash, I'm already done washing by acoustic bike, gotten an haircut, showered, family time and a few seasons of Game Of Thrones on Netflix.

Muc-Off brush set is my go to recommendation for those of us who buy and eventually want to sell our own bikes.

What bullshit did I just watched... Next time when it rains heavy I tell the rain to stay away from my electric parts and entrances for the cables. Bullshit. Battery out is the only think you SHOULD do not have to. Washing my emtbs for years every single day with a low beam washer from Bosch ( Bosch Fontus ) and F100 cleaner never had any issue anywhere no bearing broke nor rust showed up...

A bucket of hot soapy water, and dip paint-brushes into it. Brush the mud off, then brush again with different brushes dipped in fresh water. Allow to air-dry for an hour then re-lube the chain, some AC-90 on the fork stantions, rub down thoroughly with a towel. Seems to work OK so far....

How would you wash a bike that has a battery that is a major faff to remove? The Focus Jam2's batteries can be removed, but you have to remove the motor to do so, not gonna do that every time I wash it. However, even if I am careful, I still get water into the motor area and the power light will stay on and then dim down, then repeat, even if the power is off. :(

Well, i trashed the bearing in my Bosch CX motor. Bad luck? Using too much Muc Off and a hose? Riding through that ford a few too many times?
