Testing crankshaft end play on a '99 Miata (37k miles)

Several thousand miles after my first measurement, I decided to measure again while changing my water pump. I used a magnet base stuck to the block with a dial indicator touching the crank pulley boss. I pulled the crank pulley forward and pushed it back. Play shows ~.009, which is the same as my previous measurement. Since the previous measurement, I defeated the clutch interlock and no longer start my car with the clutch depressed to minimize wear on the thrust bearing. I'll check again next time I have to tear the engine down, which hopefully wont be for a while.
