If T-Mobile or Verizon Home Internet isn't available or too expensive for your needs then there are alternatives! Check out what I use for high speed data only plan for $6/mo. Also check out the Elsys Amplimax that is a dedicated 4G LTE cellular modem that you can use with many carriers (officially approved for AT&T and T-Mobile, soon to be Verizon as well). This device is awesome for quickly getting internet access anywhere there is cell service. This is much more capable then a hotspot since it is capable of going outdoors permanently, has long range signal, leverages ethernet for quick connection and even has several useful features such as band locking, carrier selection, DMZ, port forwarding, QoS, etc.

Additional items you may want to buy:

Amplimax Ultra (5G version) will debut at FIBOCOM booth of the MWC Las Vegas conference Sept 28-30, 2022 (people can visit the booth and talk with a specialists). The Amplimax 4G will also be displayed in the booth of QUECTEL. This Elsys Amplimax is ideal for camping, rural homes/agriculture, RV or anywhere you need a strong cell based internet service. Setup and very quick and simple. You need to purchase a data plan from a carrier of your choice and insert the sim card then you're good to go! Many companies offer a "tablet plan" and that is probably idea for this device, just check the terms and conditions for how much data/throttling they may have. Works with Verizon, AT&T, T-mobile, Sprint, etc carriers. Cellular bands like B2/B4/B5/B12/B13/B14/B66/B71.

I’m trying to help my brother in law figure out internet for his semi-rural house with no cable internet line. I had no idea this was even an option. Thank you!

After disappointing speeds on my T-Mobile Nokia gateway, which I stuck with because it was still superior to Xfinity, I am finally getting good speed on weekdays during the day. I did nothing to the gateway settings, didn't add an antenna, didn't reposition the gateway or anything near it. When I first contacted T-Mobile about the issue a year ago I got the standard "we're in the process of upgrading the tower so it should improve in about a month". Months later it was still slow (0.5 - 25 Mbps). Two months ago the speed jumped and I now consistently get 75 - 120 Mbps during the time of day when I need it. Needeless to say, I am pleased that my patience paid off and I'm more or less happy with T-Mobile.

Hi Nate,
Their Help center, Modems & Routers, state " Tello does not support the use of MiFi, netgear, modems or router devices."

I'm still hunting for a data plan for cellular modem.
Thanks

I just activated the Verizon 5g gateway and the charge is $60/mo. I don’t have a cell plan through Verizon and don’t want Verizon’s Visa card or want to give them my debit card. I know Verizon advertises $25/mo, but there are caveats.

Hi. I have a quick question hope u can answer. With this item. If power goes out will it power back/reboot once power is back up? I have a T-Mobile hot
Spot for a cabin to check cameras. But if power goes out. I have to get someone to go and power up hot spot. Not like home internet it reboots once power is back up

I have a seasonal parked camper, so I buy this ELSYS unit first and place it and turn it on and let it tell me which carrier to buy a sim for? What would be my steps to follow? I have 4 devices I need this for

"Cheating the system" here in the UK too.

ADSL was costing £22 a month. I got rid when the contract ended and bought my own cheap 4g+ cat 6 router and external antenna (rubbish signal indoors).

Now paying £8 a month for 1000gb allowances month (I only use 500gb maximum).

I think with the cost of living crisis here many more are going down the cellular route.

My setup is my visible wireless phone hotspot is repeated by a mango router. I also have ethernet to my Linux computer from the mango router. It has been working very well.

You can buy a prepaid cellphone and transfer sim to either of those devices

Great video! I had a question, I currently have a raspberry pi running a cat 4 4g LTE Pcie modem. I have it on verizon but since i live on a hill my signal is about 60%(30down10up). You mentioned the device in the video can search for all signals and give an idea of which carrier is best. I think I’ll now look into trying to run something like that. Looking to get most bang for the buck, either high cat modem or going 5g or bigger antenna.

Nate, I realize this is an older video. However, with the Elsys Amplimax Ultra 5g finally beginning to hit the US market, I was wondering if you may be planning a review? I know you mentioned the 5g unit coming down the road in this video. Peter Carcione has done a review on the 5g unit and it's very impressive. However, you live much more rural, like I do, and it would be cool to see you do a review, too. Understood if not, though.

If I understand this correctly the Elsys is only a cat 4 lte device. Would i be better off putting a Netgear Nighthawk M1 (cat 16) in an outdoor enclosure powered by POE and maybe a decent mimo antenna. Hope you can explain or maybe do a vidoe on this. Thanks

So, you can just buy a sim card with a data plan (from any carrier) and use it with the Elsys Amplimax device? A family member currently has T-Mobile's home internet through the kvd21 gateway and it is not working well (only 2 bars at best). I'm just wondering if something like this might be a better solution for them? (especially since the Amplimax device can be put outside)

Hi, I'm new to you channel. Thank you for taking time to go through those details that really help.
I have a question for you, I don't know if it's possible. Can you take the sim card from the T-mobile 5G gateway and use it in the Elsys Amplimax?

Hi Nate... FYI for cell phone; "Pda Net APK" with partner PC APP; also required "Fox Fi" key for Pda Net... Thx for much info on TMO WiFi internet! We sometimes use Samsung's (cell phone) DEX connected to our TV to watch Netflix, Paramount+, Hulu, etc..
