This is my review of the 6.8 Gallon Imagitarium Freshwater Aquarium, which I bought about a year ago. It is basically a Nano Tank kit that comes with everything except a heater.

I own this tank for a single male betta. I tore out the whole back compartment, added a small rain fall style filter, a heater, and kept the light. The light is very over powering, I think it would be better for a 10 gallon atleast. I countered this by adding duck weed, and planted seeds in my sand. Algae is now very minimal, and I’m thinking about adding shrimp to help out with that left over but I’m afraid of my betta snacking on them. Overall a great tank once you’ve modified it.

I'm buying this tank even with the flaws you mention that I feel can be modded easily. Pump can be replaced, covering the sump with vinyl etc. Like the niches for tall plants and I will have significant planting, snail population, Kuhli Loach etc for cleaning crew. My substrate will be larger rock only, no sand. I am an experienced salt water keeper but got out because of too much maintenance and expense. Want the look of a planted tank in my old age, and maybe just some tetras and shrimp now. But thanks for your opinion.

I just ordered the tank and I’m going to remove everything from it. It should not be difficult. I did the same with Marineland Portrait 5 gallon tank.

I took the filter out if mine and have looked back. Added an aquaclear 20 which fit perfectly. A really nice tank now. I have a video on my channel.

I think all the comments and videos on tearing out the sump is silly. Just buy a cube tank with nothing in it. 😂

There's nothing wrong with algae. It's free food for algae munching creatures. 👍
