I literally freaked out when I opened YouTube and saw the two of you together. I haven't started the video yet but I am bouncing up and down in excitement I can barely contain myself. You two are both among my biggest role models! So excited to hear you talk!

This is amazing! Thank you for dispelling the "myths" for language learning, and giving me hope that I can learn a new language. Thank you, Vanessa Van Edwards, for your generous

Thank you! This is very helpful for me because I just started learning Hindi. I want to be able to understand what my spiritual teacher is saying without an interpreter and to be able to communicate with her directly. Thank you again!

I love learning new languages and have, in my years, spent time studying sign language, french and Pashto to help with patient care. I definitely see the benefits of being immersed in a culture to really level up quickly. In all cases, people have been so gracious as I put myself in the uncomforable places to try out what I am learning ... and make mistakes ... :)

It's interesting to learn that styles of learning don't have an influence on knowledge. Also really interesting to learn that language is taught poorly in schools.

Speaking 20 languages obviously he would be better at some than others. It takes years to speak a foreign language at the same level as your native language. I wonder how many he is truly fluent at verses just being proficient among those twenty.
It also depends on how you interpret fluency.
On the Wycliffe language scale 5 is a native speaker. Very few people get beyond a 3. For a foreigner, a 4 is excellent. A very few may make it to a 4.5.
I do applaud him for a major mental accomplishment!

It’s a great video! I’m Chinese descent Indonesian I learn English until high school and later Japanese in University, currently I’m learning Korean. The thing is since I look like Japanese, people instead wonder not because I’m speaking Japanese but because they wonder if I’m foreigners since I have a bit of accent 🥲 I think in my case it’s more like betrayal to Japanese than nice surprise 😂
