Got a 4090 OC today, I spent hours uninstalling, reinstalling Destiny 2, DDU to different versions of nvidia drivers, going on forums and what not, nothing worked until the power management thing, thank you brother, I super appreciate it!

I was getting freezing (whole computer)... audio in discord would stay working though. Kernal Power Error 41... plug direct in the wall, and now it happens less frequently. I rebuilt a new computer from scratch... the 4090 is the only component I carried over, and it was still crashing Kernal Power Error. ill need to check the power management and try a different wall socket. 1000w Plat... 4090 + 9800x3d ... 64Gb Kingston Fury.

I have a Ryzen 9 5900x, 32GB Gskill 36000mhz, 850w Gold EVGA, upgraded from a 308012gb to a 4070ti super. Didn’t have any issues for years with 3080 until about 3 months into the 70tisuper this exact problem happened to me. Black screen, GPU fans on full, crashes. Nothing overheats, will do it idling or after 5 hours of gaming. No rhyme or reason to it and at random times. I really don’t want to have to disable DOCP after running it for years so I’m going to try max performance and turn off DOCP and see if that resolves it. I updated bios and that didn’t work. I’ve done the max performance setting and will leave DOCP off. If that works for a while I’ll try DOCP again. Thanks for all the comments everyone this has been frustrating as hell to figure out.

Recently I got a new gaming PC with a 4090 RTX. It was running fine for the first month or two, then it started shutting down after being used for 30 to 60 minutes. I moved the 4090 to another PCI Express slot and it worked again... at first... then after a week or so, games started crashing all the time. Kept doing research until I found your video. Your suggestion of plugging the PC directly into the wall made me realize that I had my powerful new gaming PC plugged into a cheap surge protector which was plugged into an outlet that was also being used by my window air conditioner. Dumb I know, just didn't even think about it. After plugging my gaming PC directly into a different outlet, the crashes have completely stopped. Thank you *so much* for this video! It's easy to get lost in a million different potential fixes for this kind of crashing issue (swapping out RAM, trying different PCI express slots, reseating CMOS battery, rolling back video card drivers... I tried a lot). If anyone else is experiencing issues with their gaming PC crashing/shutting down, try plugging it directly into an outlet that is not being used by anything else before you try reseating/moving around/replacing components. Happy gaming!

I had 4070 super. Black screen of death. Returned and bought pc with 4080 super. Just got same black screen of death last night during clan wars. Crazy to have these issues on such expensive equipment. Nvidia.

FilledWithChi11, It's Oct. 29, 2024, I know this video is one year old. And you already knew the answer when you decided to plug your power supply directly into a wall outlet bypassing your Surge Protector which really should be replaced with a higher wattage surge protector. Surge protectors don't last forever and should be replaced after they have been tripped a few times. Just to be on the safe side replace them when things like your GPU go hairy.
All my Founders Edition 3090's, 3090ti's and 4090's and AMD GPU's needed at least 1000 watt power supply's.
I started using 1000 Watt Antec Power Supply's. in 2005. Today I use RM1000X to RM1200X watt Corsair or EVGA 1000 to 1300 watt Gold or Platinum models. Upgrading to a higher watt model will help computers boot faster and last longer by not causing a strain on components like GPU's or hard drives when booting up . Power supply's don't have to be gold or platinum versions but they still need to be certified and higher Tier models are recommended.
If you don't want to upgrade a power supply at least buy a decent Surge Protector mine are Belkin Home theatre models #BE112230-08
I use the one as seen on your video they work but you might just as well plug directly into a wall outlet.
I hope I haven't been a nuisance, just thought this information cold help.

From the future. Thought my 4090 was toast. Was about to take it back to Microcenter, but used a utility called DDU, freeware that completely unistalls every trace of your driver. More info on what and how to use it. No more crashes!!

Plugged my system directly to the wall as well, but still facing the crash issue. Will be trying out replacing the riser cable and getting a external UPS. My system just kept rebooting, if solutions mentioned still doesn’t work, might get nvidia to swap a new one since warranty is still covered.

My rtx4090 rig is driving me nuts, I only have problems at a few games. Trying anything from RAM speed to under volting, I will test the direct plugin.
