If your wondering, I think it’s pronounced Gwa-shh (so basically the way you pronounced it, I think it’s the best known pronunciation), also your art is stunning!🤩

It's great!

Gouache is my favorite paint. Here are a few tips, if you want to :3
1. Don't let it dry out (it seems like it's impossible in those containers, maybe try finding small jars for it)
1.1 To bring paint back to life put some hot water into the jar, screw the lid on TIGHTLY, shake until you can't anymore and then some more. (Can be done infinite amount of times, yet try to keep it minimal)
1.2 the paint should be the consistency of sour cream (quite thick)
2. Try not to leave any white paper showing through
3. Layer as much as you want, it's opaque
4. If you really don't like something, wet a paper towel and GENTLY wipe the paint off. Than continue painting over(usually you don't even need white).
5. Take your time. Gouache is very forgiving

You should try using a "wet palette' It helps keep the paint you're using wet and you can thin it out as much as you'd like without your paint drying due to leaving it open. I'm learning gouache as well and finding the wet palette was the best thing since sliced bread. Your paintings are beautiful.

There's basically two ways to say gouache-
"Gwah - shh" seems to be the more popular pronunciation in America
But "goo - ash" is common in other countries (if I'm remembering correctly haha)

I pronounce it the first way, but I have to be careful to say it properly or people think I'm saying "leg wash" for some reason 😅
You can honestly say it however you want :)

From what I know (and I’m still an amateur painter myself) you defs can use gouache like watercolours because it’s water based, but even when super watered down they will still come out more opaque than watercolours. Although I’ve been using watercolours for years and realised I’ve been trying to achieve more opaque affects with them, so I got into gouache as well. Recently I’ve been doing my bases, first few layers and some details in watercolours and then coming in with the gouache for details and corrections. It’s a learning curve but a fun one 🤩
