I love gouache! As a person that goes to an art school (graduating this year) I would really encourage you to mix colors, your paintings will look a lot more “professional”. Also, just like watercolor, don’t add more than 3 paints into a single color, it’ll make it muddy-looking. And another thing, it’s much better to have a base color palette to consist of 3-ish colors (for example: warm yellow, warm red and teal) + white and black, this not only will make “connecting” the colors so much easier, but it’ll make the painting look more whole. And lastly, making paper color palettes will help you figure out what colors you want to use in your painting, I would recommend 3 rows: the middle one would be your mixed color from your base color palette, and the other 2 would be would be lighter and darker (using the white and the black). Everything else comes from experience.

Let's add another tip then! (I'll write another one if we get 200 likes :p)

This is probably the more known tip/"rule". Don't use plain black, like seriously (unless you're doing a black and white piece then be my guest). Instead, you can mix black and some other colour that has been used in your ~masterpiece~. Trust me, your painting will look a lot more whole.

Alrighty, let's continue with our lesson. Today's tip of the day is... *drumroll*
If you would like to make your life easier and to not waste paper, paint or anything like that, try to make multiple SMALL versions of whatever you want to draw: one in pencil, one in black and white (this helps to decide which object is lighter/darker, also helps to figure out if the painting is "3d") and one coloured.

You did a really good job! I don't think the cats are sitting on the back of a car though. I think they're sitting on top of a barn/roof. You can tell because in the painting there's a little tiny house in the background.
