Have you experienced dad reflexes yet? It is so weird the first time you casually, no look catch your child as they fall off of something like a chair, the couch, the changing table etc even if you are in no position to be able to do so. Even the most unathletic person who dropped every game saving ball in little league, is all of the sudden an all star wide reciever with stickum on their hands. It is wild.

And before any non-parents get bent out of shape abou "well maybe pay more attention to what your kid is doing", just know that one of the primary activities of a new parent is basically dèáth watch. Just trying to keep the little meatball from removing themselves from the census by yeeting themselves off of and into various things.

I truly enjoy respectful, responsible, smart ppl. When I had a daughter my goal was to do the things that would assist her to become that kind of person. She's married and in her 30's now. Mission accomplished. Very rarely (never) will it ever be necessary for you to jump in front of a bullet to save anybody.

Why are people always jumping infront of bullets for their friends? If you have the time to jump infront of a bullet. You have the time to body check them out of the way of the bullet.

I would always body check a friend out of the way of a bullet. A bullet can easily go through you and kill your child behind you. BUT! If they are out of the way of the bullet because I drop kicked a 4 year old. They definitely are not getting shot and neither am I.
