In this lesson, Ross explains how bees take nectar from flowers and turn it into honey. Ross calls honey "a first-aid kit in a jar". He talks about why honey is so healing and how it aids in the healing process. He explains the antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties of honey. The most healing form of honey is raw, unfiltered, unheated honey and Ross tells you why. He explores a number of ways that honey is used for healing including burn treatment, treating kid's coughs, use by athletes, and even diabetics. You will even hear an audience testimonial about successfully treating 2nd degree burns with raw honey.

Ross Conrad learned his craft from the late Charles Mraz, world-renowned beekeeper and founder of Champlain Valley Apiaries in Vermont. Former president of the Vermont Beekeepers Association, Conrad is a regular contributor to Bee Culture -- The Magazine of American Beekeeping. Ross has led bee related presentations and taught organic beekeeping workshops and classes throughout North America for many years. His small beekeeping business, Dancing Bee Gardens, supplies friends, neighbors, and local stores with honey and candles among other bee related products, and provides bees for Vermont apple pollination in spring.

I can testify as to the claim it helps you lose weight.

I rarely have eaten honey in my life. I might buy a small jar of honey every 3 years. Or even longer. But I noticed about a month or two ago that when I felt dehydrated and felt I needed electrolytes, if I had a half banana sliced, put a table spoon of yogurt over it, dribbled some honey on it, and threw in a couple of walnuts, I instantly felt hydrated.

So I bought some raw honey from Michigan to try, and after a couple of weeks of eating this mixture 2-3 times a day, I noticed I was losing weight.

I was wondering why this might be happening, and I realized that the only change to my diet was that I was eating yogurt every day, as well as honey. (Yogurt was another food I rarely ate --- I would buy a container of yogurt maybe 4 times a year.)

So I googled "raw honey lose weight" and "yogurt lose weight", and found articles claiming both foods can help you lose weight.

The interesting thing was that I used to have 1-2 banana-strawberry smoothies a day, and I would either put half and half or a spoonful of yogurt in if I had some. So the real, very novel addition to my diet really is the honey, so I am guessing that's what's causing the weight loss.

Unless it's really cancer of some sort.
