Reduce Hand Shaking Exercises for Parkinson’s Disease

In this video, I am going to show you exercises on how to decrease shaking or tremors of your hand. If you have Parkinson’s disease, it is very common to see hand tremors which is often described as pill rolling. These tremors can interfere with every day activities such as eating, brushing teeth, shaving and writing. In occupational therapy, we develop exercises and techniques so you can do your daily tasks easier.
The hand exercises in this video should help you control the shaking of your hands.

The exercises included are:
1. Hand flapping
2. Hand closing and opening
3. Finger flicking
4. Push away
5. Tip to tip
6. Thumb circles

Try to do this every day specially when you need to have less shaking or tremors of your hand to improve coordination and ability to improve your writing, eating, grooming or shaving.

I had very mild tremors since I was young. Over the past few years these tremors have become progressively severe, interfering with daily functionality. I was a very competent amateur guitarist. The tremors ruined my playing and I resigned myself to never picking up a guitar again. My therapist advised me persist with guitar playing as it would improve my tremors (finger muscle power). Then I discovered your amazing video. I have combined my guitar playing with your invaluable exercise programme and am beginning to feel the difference. Thank you and bless you for the work you do. I have hand tremors because of my medications (dominant hand )… I get embarrassed because of my writing/printing ….these are great exercises., ..I’m going to do it for a week and see the difference….I know it will get better!

I don’t have Parkinson’s but I do have shaky hands and I think these exercises will help me I’m 71 years old. I’d like to do my own acrylic nails, but I have a lot of trouble because I shake so much so thank you.
