Companies prepare for higher tariffs threatened by Trump

A number of U.S. companies whose products are imported from China are devising alternative plans to source their goods from elsewhere. President-elect Trump says he wants to impose 10 percent tariffs on most imports and 60 percent or more on Chinese goods. NBC News' Christine Romans reports.

I’ll never forget telling my staunch Republican uncle 15 years ago that we needed tariffs to bring manufacturing jobs back to America. He called it a ludicrous idea, and said it would be like raising taxes. Fast forward to today, and he’s MAGA and all in on tariffs. People are like puppets, they just need the right master to pull the right strings.

The ignorance is Americans really believing these companies will bring back manufacturing to the U.S. The only way this has a chance of working is if we as a whole boycott imports. My sister and her husband are not getting a Christmas bonus this year because that money is going to buy inventory. She called me crying and I laughed at her, she is a trump supporter. I had explained to her tariffs but she didn't believe me. Now she does....ohhh well.
