I still think that Boeing asking the US Government for a tariff on Bombardier was one of the biggest shots in the foot ever in corporate history...

Bombardier made the most successful plane of this quarter century and doesn't even get the credit for it 😅

It's a shame that Bombardier lost the credit to this amazing plane after the Boeing bullying scandal, but at least I'm happy that the Canadian talent and workforce are being maintained and even increased under Airbus rule. It's the least they could do

If Boeing had left Bombardier alone the Canadian company would've struggled to gain traction as they sunk billions into the CSeries even though the plane is so dam good.... finance would've hampered Bombardier's efforts to ramp up production in the near term leaving plenty of customers for the max

A necessary investment if they are going to introduce the -500 version

Airbus is doing the right thing, even if it reduces the sales on their A320neos in short haul flights. This Bombardier is an excellent aircraft, and putting it under Airbus’ wings only accelerated its success.

This is an exquisite aircraft. Bombardier is genius.

To me the most significant statement was that Airbus is continuing to use Bombardier engineering input. Bombardier has a history of great planes, and the talent that made the C series is obvious. If Airbus can put former Bombardier designers on their payroll who knows what they can come up with?

I flew on an A220 for the first time last week. Such a great experience. Scarcity of middle seats plus the super sized windows were both awesome. Great aircraft. However, I do wonder how successful it would be or how much I would’ve liked it if it was called a CSeries instead of an A220.

The A220 is a perfect replacement along with the Embraer 175 and 190 series for aging aircraft like the Boeing 717 and even some older 737s.

As a regular customer, I love the A220 by Swiss on their routes within Europe. Quiet, roomy and modern interior, and nice large windows to watch the Alps. A winner!

The A220 truly is a pleasure to fly on for all the reasons in comments below. Airbus 'lucked out' on this one because of Boeing's litigation....seizing the opportunity to develop this Canadian gem. What must be now considered is adaptation to a longer range model at which time you will see a huge jump in orders.

I flew on the A220(BCS) last week. It is just a wonderful aircraft, quiet and roomy. I just loved it.

as a canadian avgeek i am so proud of the A220. i dont think canadians as a whole are as proud as we should be and thats i think because of Airbus' take over a lot of people dont realize its the C series and its built in canada

Lol Bombardier Is the one with most contribution and least credit receiver. But I guess good leadership pushes any things success sad to see Bombardier in this state.

A shame Bombardier couldn't get an investor and retain the programme. Fact is the jet is a bombardier with an Airbus name splashed on it. Just like the Boeing 717...

I know it's weird but I'd like to see an overview or history of the how cabin lighting has been implemented

As a partial owner, I would imagine the choice was between putting in the investment proportional to their ownership, or selling their share at a significant loss.

At least this way they will likely see a return on their investment, or a significant reduction in their losses.

You also have to ofset any further investment against tax returns and employment within the state, which if the program were to fail, re-locate, or see the expansion elsewhere would be lost.

Fun fact : The premier of Quebec, François Legault, was a founder of the airline Air Transat.

At the beginning, Bombardier should have done a joint venture with Mitsubishi Aircraft and would have been able to stand up to Boieng & Airbus.
