Forgotten For Years - 1971 Chevy Nova Is Road Ready!

We have been absolutely thrashing on our Chevy Nova. Mechanically this car is pretty well ready to go. Today we tackle the top shiny side of the car. This car was painted 8-10 years ago and then spent the last few years sitting in a surface storage lot. The rain and snow where not kind to the old girl.

We scrubbed off the rust and laid a new coat of clear on the roof. All in all she cleaned up really nice!

My late wife of 35 years had the same year Nova, and we loved 😍 that car. It had the 350 with a few modifications, and I put a limited slip diff. I love yours, and it brings back awesome memories of cruises along Lake Michigan's shoreline and setting in it and watching the sunset 🌇

I like the stance. Curve the back of the roll bar and leave it in. it will serve as a grab handle if someone's in the back lol and your seat will go back further.

That pretty quick to get one together. It’s pretty well plug and play on a lot of that stuff, but still, quick build up.

Pro Tip. Flat Black high heat bbq paint looks like a vinyl top and works really well on roofs

Cheap spray in bed liner makes for a great "vinyl" top and no worries about water getting trapped, deamination, etc etc...

Scuff and paint the roof black. Will look good while you work on the car, and will help prevent rusting.
