How Much Did It Cost to Convert our Sprinter Van? | Eamon & Bec

You asked and we listened! Our most FAQ is "how much did it cost to convert your sprinter van into an off-grid camper?" and today we answer it for you.

Three months ago, Eamon and I decided to forgo yet another apartment lease to buy a used 2008 Mercedes Sprinter Van that we would convert to our tiny home on wheels. Our DIY project allowed us to customize our build to meet our specific needs and we could not be happier. This is how you live #VanLife in simplified style!

We did our best to create a quick video that includes all pieces of our van conversion to a camper. It is a video we wish we could've watched before jumping into building our home on wheels.

Instead of just telling you a final number, we take some time in this video to breakdown where our money was spent and exactly how much each appliance/material/etc cost.

I liked how you guys were creative and showed what you bought and had the scrolling numbers. BTW your grand total of $24k CAD converts roughly to about $18, 700 USD. ;)

if anyone is curious how much they spent in USD it's ~$18, 662.40. I'm actually very impressed by that. I'm looking into alternative living myself and eventually would like to own a tiny house or a van. Your videos are so inspirational.

They are so CUTE!
The relationship is on point.
To live that close to someone for months on end, that's great they have that bond and fun.
Just the way she looks at him, it didn't seem fake or forced. LOL

A lot of people (including this guy) are stoked to see you unveil your costs! This could've been a blah boring video but you guys turned it into a creative production. And that is always so pleasing to see others putting their own authenticity at work. People come here for your vibes and that is why I'm here to stay as well. Cheers you two

This was so well edited, I thought this was a well made professional video...OUTSTANDING! Your mix of verbal articulation & super cute humor, turned what could've been a boring-ho hum video, into a work of awesomeness that was very enjoyable to watch! Emon, you are a trip dude, and Bec, you're pretty darn funny yourself! 👍👍 on this vid you two ✌🏻😎

This is absolutely amazing to see! Although that's a lot of money.. it's really not when you consider the fact that it's you're home. I always imagined the total would be close to double that honestly. Knowing that it's not as expensive as I thought is really inspiring! Thanks guys :)

$18, 663 US dollars! That’s really a great number for your van. It’s gorgeous! Very quality. Thanks for doing this. So many people avoid this

This is Christian which is why we are commenting again ;) This is an amazing video guys, we might have to totally rip you off and do our own. You guys killed it when it comes to the cost here. I honestly don't think someone could do it for that much cheaper and get a really spankin lookin rig. For any people reading this who haven't gotten the van - this might be obvious but it is all in the van. You can make a ton of mistakes in the conversion and not spend a lot, but if you make a mistake in the van you'll be in trouble. We paid about a much as you guys for the conversion and would have ended up way under your bill, but we took the risk of buying the van we found for $5, 500 (obviously a crazy low price) but ended up having to replace the entire engine which put us back around $15, 000! Craziness. Pros are that we have a new engine so should be set for a while, but a note to anyone who hasn't started, buying the right car is EVERYTHING when it comes to saving money on a build.

Anyway, killed it with the vid. Hope this thing blows up because everyone thinking about building a van should see this.

Thanks for being open and honest about how much you spent. I've seen some of the other videos and they don't want to and aren't willing to answer the question about how much they spent on their van. For some reason people are very secretive as to how much they spend on things, not like we're asking them for their back account number

This is really awesome to know. My husband and I bought an already converted sprinter for a lot bigger price tag. But that's okay. I still love it! Definitely want to look into converting our our own in a couple years.

Yes! Motorcycle!! That is 100% first installment in my fantasy Sprinter Van. Also amazing job. I can't believe you did all that under $100, 000, even with your own sweat equity being your only source of labor. Very, very impressive.
