I once had a little boy ask me for an autograph when he spotted me in my uniform. I told him thank you but I wasn't anything special. He said, "You're a hero to me." 😢

I'm 65 years old, & I try to shake the hand of EVERY MILITARY hero I come across.I go to great lengths to shake their hand, & thank them for their service...GOD BLESS YOU GUYS...

When I graduated basic, I was out with my dad and a little girl came up and thanked me for my service. I told her I haven’t done anything yet and she replied “but you will, I know it!”. That still keeps me motivated

This is so heartwarming. My boyfriend is a USMC veteran, and he gets thanked all the time like this. We are the land of the free, because of the brave. Thank you to those currently serving and to those who have served. You are true heroes.

As a EOD vet of 16 yrs active, I tell people, “ Don’t thank me for my service, just live a life that made mine and other’s service worth it”. That means more to us than anything. That being said, the young man has my respect for showing his.

Our autistic 20yo son does this with every service member he comes across and tells them "Thank you for your service." He's done this since he was about 5yo. ❤

I remember something similar one time at a gas station. The kid told his mom, “Look mom! A Marine!” I felt like Superman. I’ll never forget that.
