BOOK REVIEW | WHY I LOVE READING MATILDA STORY SO SO MUCH?
Показать описание
“Matilda”- an amazing book that I have read multiple times - the last long kids’ book that Roald Dahl wrote and published one year before he passed away in 1990, illustrated by Quentin Blake.
With his simple writing style, Roald Dahl leads his readers into a world where the main character - a little girl named Matilda - the world's most famous bookworm - always has her nose in a book. She had taught herself to read by the age of three, and discovered her love of books by the time she was four. After she had read all the children's stories in her local library, she continued to read the works of authors like Dickens, Hemingway and George Orwell ….over the next 6 months. She was always curious and loved finding out about the world through books. She thought all the books were amazing. She surprised the librarian with her smarts and modesty. However, she never was appreciated by her parents. Her father thinks Qshe's a little scab. Her mother insists that brains never got a woman anywhere.
Besides her voracious appetite for books, she was also a courageous girl. She saw her father suddenly grab the book she had borrowed from the library and rip it to pieces but resisted crying because she knew crying was useless.
When she started at Crunchem Hall Primary School, Matilda met Miss Jennifer Honey, a sweet teacher with a warm smile who was quite amused by her talent.
But her new troubles also start here when she falls into the sights of the Headmistress Trunchbull - a bulky woman - who participates in hammer throwing for England's team at the Olympics, the worst woman of all. She thinks Matilda is a nasty worm who is always up to mischief, and all her pupils are stupid and locks them in the dreaded Chokey. But when Matilda discovers the ability to use her will power to move objects like tipping over a glass of water, or making the chalk self-write on the board, It's also when she uses them to help Miss Honey and herself against the ruthless Trunchbull…..
This book is a wonderful brew of hilarious expression and important life lessons that draws the reader into Matilda’s adventures. It provides a strong message to children: you can do anything, as long as you have hope and determination.
Roald Dahl was not only an incredibly talented author with a vivid imagination, he was also a spy, ace fighter-pilot, chocolate historian… who wrote Charlie and the Chocolate Factory too, and many more brilliant stories. In my opinion, he remains the world's best storyteller.
