if it has that error saying that you must try again, click try again. it should show you an error. just close it, and then it'll have a dialog saying that reset mode has been detected. click 'reset' and there!

But my lock button on top is broken so what I did is go to that white circle on screen went to device and it showed the lock screen so I clicked that and the home button than the power slide came up and I kept holding the home button than it shut off than the connect to itunes popped up lol thank god

if someone steals your phone, regardless of what type of phone, yes they can hard reset it removing all of your data and then go onto sell the phone or put a plan they for on it. However with iphones because there is a serial attached to each plan you could take the time to recover the phone if you pay for the tracking. However most people whom know how to hard reset usually just drain the battery which prevents recovery. Not that im one to do such things but i study forensics /shrug

Thanks for the help. For those of you that it did not work with, you must plug it in. I connected mine straight to my laptop while doing this. When I tried to attempt it while unplugged, it didn't work. So make sure to plug in!

you may not get the option to turn off the phone, no worries just keep holding down the home buttome and still do everything as if you had to slide to turn off and it will do the same thing

it still works. just hold down the home and power button for a bit, but hold it during the apple logo.

I see ITunes now & tried to click on it but nothing happens. Do I click on iTunes on phone or if it shows on computer?. You should show the complete steps after iTunes pops up.
