Eloise is so privileged and she doesn’t see that!Regardless, it was very exciting, long-awaited and satisfying to see her finally realise Penelope is Lady Whistledown. Although it seemed like Pen betrayed her friend at the last stage she was trying to protect her from the queen’s speculation! Pen had to grow up so fast with the way the ton treated her family and who she was a person! Simply disregarded her as an “insipid wallflower” her friend, family and even her crush Colin turned their back on her! So she dealt with it by becoming Lady Whistledown (a gossip monster) to show how horrible society are! When you take advantage of people’s kindness and ignore their feelings, opinions and beliefs they will feel shunned and try to ruin others lives! I feel for Penelope.

I'm impressed at how Eloise didn't scream back at Penelope after that last hurtful punch. That last line from Penelope really concludes how terrible person she is, she basically said Eloise was jealous of her accomplishment.

Eloise was Pen's only friend. Now they broke up.

It’s annoying how Eloise’s character doesn’t learn, and I personally blame that on the writers. However she’s a complex character, and although she’s privileged and blissfully unaware, Penelope’s actions of being Lady Whistledown aren’t brave. She’s serving herself as an unhealthy coping mechanism to deal with the society built against certain aspects of her character. She almost resents Eloise’s aspects such as her conventional attractiveness and her family, and I think that’s what’s driven her to do this. Penelope had destroyed countless lives because her mental health is declining, but that’s an explanation, not an excuse. Her actions are terrible, and Eloise’s actions are almost annoying at times. These opinions can coexist! Eloise has been brought up with privilege and what Penelope did has ruined her, and best friends just don’t do that to each other.

They are 17-18. Teenagers do horrible things to their friends, and we forgive cause it’s part of growing up. What she did was selfish and stupid. But I think Eloise will forgive her. Some of you act like you’ve never been 17 and done something you regret to your friends. My bsf (12 yr friendship now) once told a girl I hated something like “you shouldn’t hit her, but if you do, hit her hard” teenage girls are ruthless and horrible, get over it. She’s not a good person, but she’s a great character.

Honestly Penelope needs to be ratted out by the queen because she is just downright horrible she's been gossiping about everybody in London, her own family, her cousin and her best friend's family. And on top of that she ruined Eloise's friendship with Theo for her own selfish reasons. So Penelope needs to be busted by the queen for good.

Excited how they will make up for Penelopes character when she and her love story with Colin will be the center of season 4. Might I add that this whole Eloise betrayal thing DIDN‘T happen in the books. Reading them I really liked Penelope but in the series they did make her a snitch

All the people defending Penelope writing shit about other people, if she really didn't have a choice why didn't ahe write about herself being obsessed with colin. ? Tarnishing everyone's reputation and acting like a victim is not the way to go. Imagine letting someone into your family and secrets to find them reveal those to the world and badmouth you. Penelope was hurt when she heard colin talk behind her back and she expects eloise to understand?

I don't agree with this friendship. Penelope only used her friend for her own gains over and over again. She even hurt her own family just because Colin wanted to marry her cousin. She is a bad person. Who would want a friend like that? She even messed with her "best friend" honor. Girl, bye.

When she told her the ugly girl from the dance and that she didn't want to see her again, she really wanted to punch Eloise, because Penelope is right about something Eloise is nothing more than a talker and a hypocrite

she is crazy .. she gossips jealous .. and selfish .. she wanted eloise to like what she writes .. eloise was done with gossips .. eloise wanted more she wanted to read about women rights about the society ..something different .. and pen all what she did is talking about people's scandales ..then pen got mad because eloise changed her thoughts and found the man who shares her the same thoughts
if we truly love someone or car about our friends we should never talk about their secrets in public
