The biggest difference between this two is that Eloise has the privilege and looks to get anything she wants and deny any young man who wants her and dances with her. She has the name and looks that young man go after. As for Penelope she doesn’t have that same privilege. And in all her insecurities, hurt and pain, she had to grow up fast and realize how cruel society can be. Eloise can dream and talk all she wants and yet she hasn’t changed anything. Meanwhile Penelope has created influence and power as Lady Whistledown. Eloise family and looks gives her the comfort and security to be a dreamer, meanwhile Penelope doesn’t have that. She has to carve her own way in secret. I love both characters but Penelope’s the one who’s more real and relatable

I keep saying it, people around Penelope take advantage of her kindness and disregard her feelings and opinions. Even when she pleads with them as Penelope, no one listens or sees her. No wonder Lady Whistledown manifested. An Insecure, shy, fierce and rebellious spirit all wrapped up in that red head queen. Gotta love Penelope Featherington

I'm not saying Penelope is a saint. But everyone wants to trash her for being Lady Whistledown but the people (Eloise is a prime example) are the reason her newsletter is so successful. They all flock to read what she writes like flies to honey and they can't wait for her next publication, but they want to look down on the person feeding their addiction for scandal and gossip. It's sort of like how so many people trash talk reality television but the fact is, those shows wouldn't be on television if there wasn't an audience ready to lap up all the insanity.

It honestly says a lot about a friendship if you can’t tell them your biggest secret. No matter how damning Whistledown would be for my reputation, my friends would be the first ones to know, and I’d even recruit them to get gossip for me Lol! But it wasn’t just something to protect Eloise or to protect identity — I really think Penelope couldn’t tell her in order to protect _herself from Eloise_ as well as the rest of society

Oh this kills me both were wrong but pen had a point she was doing something and Eloise just talked. But when pen wrote about Eloise the last time she was trying to save her from herself. I’m curious how they fix the friendship between them next season. And deal with the time jump.

Okay guys....

After watching and rewatching season 2 over and over again, you can't deny that Penelope really did try.

Writing about Elosie was her last resort. Even with Marina, she tried to tell her not to go for Colin... But I've come to the conclusion that no one listens to Penelope up until she becomes LW. Penelope warned El but she still did her own will. You can't be rebellious and then chicken out when you have to face the consequences of being a rebel. Like even the biggest activists faced backlash but had to fight for what they believed in. Elosie wanted the freedom that came with speaking her mind at those places, but not the consequences because she enjoys the privileges she gets from her society. That's why I believe her and Theos relationship would have never worked. Because even though El could have loved him, she could never conform to that life. Because of the privileges and her family who she would have lost too.

As harsh as it was.... Penelope was right, Elosie is all talk.

seeing eloise's reaction to finding out that penelope was LW makes all pen's fears justified. she obviously did bad decisions but that's what makes her such an interesting character. LW's writing has always been scathing even in the books so I always think damn pen, can't believe that came from such a sweet girl hahaha i mean, we all have a dark side and pen's just utilizing her skills to generate income for their broke af family even if they don't know it or appreciate it

I’ve been seeing people give so much hate to Penelope especially after it was announced S3 was going to be hers saying ‘no people liked her’ and that ‘her redemption will be near impossible’ like? The whole point of Pen’s character and Lady Whistledown is that no one hears her and takes her shyness and sweetness as a way to disregard her and take her for granted including Eloise, Colin and the other Bridgertorns and the one time she shows some sort of humanity and out of her wallflower character people overreact and treat them like they’re the worst people. That’s what Eloise did, she was so used to Pen agreeing with anything she said and letting her lead her believing she was this great feminist queen she couldn’t take it when she saw Pen was actually doing way more than her as a woman and she couldn’t see past her obvious privilege and how she was actually saved from utter ruin bc of her own actions. Pen writing she was a rebellious teen did NOTHING to Eloise while getting punished by the queen would send her family to hell, but she can’t see that cause she can’t get through Pen being a total girlboss with an empire at her hands and not a wallflower. Pen is the superior one and she can’t take it.

The dialogue in 1:52 is Colin's thoughts in the book. He was jealous of Penelope having legacy while he unlike his brothers has not.

I always liked Eloise but the way she always complained about her condition when she was with Penelope and never really tried to know what she was going through and what she wanted kinda frustrated me. It felt like Penelope could never really voice her needs in front of her bc she’s scared that Eloise won’t understand and will think of her like any other ladies that try to find a husband. I think that’s a big reason why Pen never told Eloise about her love for Colin… Eloise had every privilege, she can have ambition thanks to her family. She grew up into a loving family. Penelope was always cast aside and Eloise was the only one who’s really close to her. She had no other choice but to find her own way to make a difference.

I think Eloise will eventually come to forgive her since in my opinion she's someone who truly values friendship and if Pen ends up with Colin they will get to see each other more often and make up

To be honest Eloise was a worse friend to Penelope that Penelope was to her. She was never attentive to Pen’s feeling, using her to listen to her talk about her projects, dreams, desires and complain about society. The fact that she knows Pen since birth but never noticed she’s in love with Colin is self explanatory. Pen is wrong too for keeping that secret from her but what Eloise said in the final proves she never had a high opinion of Pen in the first place she just stuck with her because Pen is the only one who puts up with her

Ok but... Colin and Sir Philip got along so well. I absoloutely see Eloise, Sir Philip, Colin and Penelope all being great friends in the future. I look forward to seeing how Eloise and Penelope move forward.

Omg I never realised how bad of a friend Eloise was to Penelope. She literally used Penelope as a sounding board and never thought about Penelope's life or desires. I wish for season 3+ for Penelope to make new, genuine friendships, and maybe later forgive Eloise (and Colin for that matter) for their horrible behaviour.

What Pen did was wrong but I understand, y’all can say she did it to save herself more than Eloise but when You think about it a little whistledown column and a dent in reputation is a slice of cake compared to what the Queen would have done, maybe there were other alternatives to help but she chose this way and guess what, it worked, did she keep it from her friend? Yes and sure it was wrong but It wasn’t the end of the world, Eloise is entitled to her anger but the accuse her of being selfish is just a down right lie
