How do I turn my PAPER DRAWINGS into GAME ART?

I've been asked this for literally years now, so with my potato camera, pens, paper, and selection of software I decided to take you on a journey of turning doodles into assets, scribbles into graphics, drawings into art, and sketches into games.

Feel free to change any of this up and find your own methods of generating game art from your own wonderful creations, I'd love to see YOUR stamp on it.

I'm not a developer, but what I do is sketch on Photoshop, then ink and color in Illustrator. Vector graphics seem perfect for hand drawn video games.

I've been trying to figure out ways to make art for my games in a more interesting, efficient way. This video may be old but it's helping me tons. Nice to see another Construct user too.

I have been trying to find a way to make art for video game projects I wanna do for fun. I have tried pixel art, digital paiting, 3d modeling etc. They all just have too much of a learning curve. But this method seems to be easiest for me. I draw much better by hand!

A combination of this and skeletal animation feels like a powerful combination. Digital art feels so awkward for most people.

I learned to draw last year (my art in my photo) and so I'm excited to create my game!! I designed it to all take place on one map like a MOBA and I'm going to start painting and drawing the world 😁

Friends, what's one gamedev trick you'd love to see a guide to?

Or, what's one you'd love to be able to share with the world?

You make a very good point here. Game design by yourself can be totally overwhelming. It actually sounds like a good idea to me to build an entire game with total crap graphics to get the gameplay ironed out, then move on to the graphics.

Bloody Fan-tastic to say the least! Definitely would love to see more Tuts made by you good sir! As pencil on paper is definitely my favorite aesthetic of all. Great work and looks great! 👌🏼

Median filtering is the classical solution to salt-and-pepper noise, if you're having trouble getting clean results, I think GIMP's noise reduction has a median filtering option that might help :)

This is great. I draw much better on paper than on a graphics tablet. Thanks so much!

A follow-up on backgrounds would be great! Or even just a few tips if you don't want to make a full video
