What concerns me the most, don't care if you're democratic or Republican, is that Kamala was never voted for in the primary. They skipped the entire process and we the american people didn't have a choice. We let them get away with this once happens next? How much will try to take that inch and turn it into a mile later on? This doesn't sit right with me.

The "I can't breathe" clip triggered a memory for me. Back in 2020 I saw a woman at the grocery store wearing a mask that had those exact words printed across it. It took every fiber of my being not to blurt out " If you take the #%#! mask off your problem will be solved!"

As an aircraft mechanic, one of my favorite moments was applying speed tape* to the entire seam around the big aerodynamic fairing connecting the wings to the fuselage. It's not structural, it's held on by literally about 500 screws, but we didn't have time to paint it and seal the seams after changing it, so the plane looked like a 16 year old kid's pizza delivery beater held together by duct tape until it was able to get a proper paint and seal job. I genuinely wondered what passengers thought when looking at that hideous but perfectly airworthy plane.

*speed tape is literally aluminum sheeting with turbo glue on the back. It's what the guy is applying to the window frame in the video, again most likely due to a sealant issue that will be corrected at the next maintenance base. It's not duct tape and it's not holding the window in place. There's neither hangar nor personnel available at every airport, so do you want your flight cancelled because the window seal was whistling through a tiny crack, or do you want them to seal it up with the final boss of aluminum foil with +500 wind resistance and get on with your trip?

I've got a very feminist coworker who said she'd get pregnant just to abort the baby to annoy another coworker (couldn't tell if she was joking or not but that’s not something you should joke about) and she frequently talks about how "the patriarchy" is attacking women and taking away our rights because we're supposed to wear pants and a work shirt instead of whatever we want at work...
Also, when someone mentioned closing the borders, she asked "but why?? We get so much stuff from other countries!"
Other coworker said "no. We're talking about the borders that immigrants come through, "
And she's like "what??? But Canadians are good people!"

I think Zed’s right on this one. It’s not the same for girls, but I started a grass cutting company @ 10 years old because Mom wouldn’t buy me “Chuck Taylor” high tops.
At $5 per yard (standard suburban lot). Chucks were $12. The 3rd yard left me with a conundrum. I could now buy the sneakers, but was also out of fuel ?
Do I take my one weekends efforts, take the “W” as a successful entrepreneur & retire, buy some shoes & kick back ?
But I looked back at what it took. Then I made a deal with Dad to cut ours free, if he would let me use the mower. Gave him the money and asked him for a big new gas can, fill everything up, and I was on my way.
Ridiculed for months, for wearing “Maypops”. Yeah, they bullied back then too. We just didn’t whine about it. (See you at dodgeball MFer). But by the time school year starts, I was no longer wearing maypops. Also had a lucrative after school money program, that morphed into snow removal, cutting cordwood by the truckload= with a friend& his dad drove to help us out., handy little guy business (do anything for $. ‘Cleaning ovens mostly ?”)that carried me till 14. Then I could get a “real job”.

*HERE'S HOW HOTDOG BUNS ARE SLICED* : The blades that cut the buns PIERCE the buns FROM THE END. They don't start from an outside edge the way we are used to slicing a bun. They pierce through from the end and are a specific width in order to NOT cut into the adjacent bun. This way you have a hinge on the bun. Then the blades are retracted. It is basically like a sewing machine with the blades moving in and out as the buns pass by on a conveyor. You're welcome.
