The Real ROOT CAUSE of Chronic Back Pain (pt.1) - What Is Pain?

Показать описание
What is the real root cause of chronic low back pain and sciatica? What causes chronic pain in the first place?
.
If you have chronic low back pain or sciatica, you've probably gone down the rabbit hole of trying to improve core stability or core strength. You've tried to fix your posture, pelvic tilt, leg length, muscle imbalances, tight psoas, and a million other postural or alignment variables.
.
These things are NOT the cause of chronic back pain or sciatica.
.
Well, you think maybe it's caused by the disc herniation, disc bulge, or disc degeneration?
.
Maybe, but probably not. This series will teach you the real root cause of chronic low back pain and sciatica.
.
I'll teach you pain neuroscience education, AKA pain science, so you understand how the body processes pain in the first place. You'll learn the difference between nociception and pain, and how pain doesn't always indicate harm.

Thanks, really appreciate this! Interested to hear why we can have pain when there is no apparent threat.

Great topic. Perhaps you can include examples of how the same sensory input can be registered as pain or not, depending on the context. For example: tickling, which can be a form of torture but we laught it off because it is not a real threat as long the perceived context by our brain is having fun.

I’m fortunate to have found your channel !
I did have an L5S1 herniation. Wicked pain for weeks, slowly getting better in phases over 9 weeks now … started at pain range of 8 to 10 then 9 to 6 then 7 to 5 etc. I have lived with it as I’m not doing surgery on it - period.
It’s been a long journey that still isn’t completely resolved but I see light at the end of the tunnel.
Question please:
I’m 60 and have had chronic prostatitis for a decade. I’ve been prescribed antibiotics a few times but the discomfort always returns despite no bacterial infection.
Could the discomfort/pain I feel off and on for years a result of this concept of pain as well perhaps?
To me it does possibly connect the dots. Thank you for making these videos

I had a herniated disc last November, thank God it seems to be getting better. I still have numbness in my foot a lot. I am older, 66, does the numbness take time to fully go away or is it something I just have to live with? I am so glad I found your channel, very informative. Thanks for all that you do.

Im intrested how this works. If mri show nerv compresion by disc protrusion how is it posible to get rid of pain if nerv is still compresed, and is it posible.Or we need to make structure change to free the nerv and be pain free if it is posible ?

For 4 years, I have been trying to get rid of heel pain. I was doing the wrong exercises because the diagnosis was incorrect (plantar fasciitis). However, what I actually have is sciatica, and now I need to switch to some other exercises. But this pain is so exhausting, considering I can't walk for more than an hour. If I could somehow control my brain not to give that pain output, it would be ideal 😅

😊 thank you very interesting I have two herniated discs and two bulging discs I felt burning and tightness for 3 months Physical Therapy helped and I remember my physical therapist told me if you see chiropractor don't let him touch you because you're still healing even though I'm not having any more pain I went to see the chiropractor 2 weeks after and the chiropractor gave me an adjustment he was much bigger than I was that night I had the same burning and tightness as I had the first time maybe it was my brain perceived danger thinking that the chiropractor hurt me can that be 6 months into this and I'm still experiencing the same symptoms burning and tightness I'm starting to move my spine now because I'm not afraid to move it but maybe it is my brain telling me there was danger with the chiropractor did maybe he did not hurt me and I just perceived it whatever it is I just want this to go away

and this is why you might not notice a sprained ankle or other issue until a time out? Or sometimes an officer is shot but doesn't know until he leaves the situation

Is spinal decompression (like on an inversion table) good as a preventative for spinal problems?

Isn't it also possible to experience pain without any nociceptive signaling?

Since the issue has to do with sodium channels, does reducing salt or low sodium diet play a role in pain reduction?

Ok. So if there isnt anything wrong then why does pain happen? I hurt my lower back n went down my leg n butt 2 weeks later. That went away but back pain is there. Mri says narrowing of l5s1 but nothing crazy. So mri was. Waste of time. Pain management did lumbar medial branch block with cortisteriod n its helping.... any ideas? Facet joint pain etc?

Philosophy is a great place to discuss the nature of pain, but philosophers' starting assumptions are so wrong
