The BEST Minimalist Email Client is Back - Newton Mail App
Показать описание
One day, towards the end of last year I received an unfortunate email reading that my favorite email client Newton will be discontinued.
CloudMagic - the company behind the Newton app was vague in their letter, but they were saying that they can no longer develop and support the App given the market, the demand and their pricing strategy. They stated that the market for premium consumer mail apps is not big enough and that "they explored various business models but couldn’t successfully figure out profitability & growth over the long term."
To tell you the truth, I've never felt so sad about an app being discontinued before. My life and business spin around the email client, and Newton (back then called CloudMagic) was a breath of fresh air to me.
I've always loved minimalistic apps that do a few key things, but they do them well. Newton was one of those apps. The intuitive and free of clutter interface, the read receipts and the single account sign on helped me eliminate distraction and focus on what matters most despite what device I'm on. Whenever I was switching phones for reviews, I never had to worry about setting my emails, rules or signatures all over. Whenever I was I composing a new email, I felt inspired because of the clean and free of noise composer.
So you can imagine how I felt when I had to look for an alternative. For the past four months, I've switched back and forth and tried at least ten different email clients. At any given point I have at least ten email boxes so making those app switches, was incredibly annoying, and I had cases when I missed important communications and deadlines, not to talk about the reluctance I felt every time I was sitting in front of the computer or pulled out my phone and saw something ugly.
BUT...all is excellent with the world again, and Newton is back, and it's backed (actually acquired) by Andy Rubin's Essential Products company.
