I heard about a girl that bought a gaboon viper and it got out and she tried to retrieve it from under a bed and was bitten. Sadly she died alone in her house and wasn't found for day's. I always remember that when I see these .

OMG! That Gaboon Viper scared the crap out of me. I wasn't expecting it to come out that fast and its very heavy. Listen to the thud when it hits the floor. They've been described as being slow and lethargic, but this one is certainly not. This is the fastest GV I have ever seen. This guy is very quick and very fast! Beautiful, thick, and deadly.

But letting them fall can be detrimental to their health !! Being a heavy bodied snake, a fall like that can damage their ribs & internal organs !! I learned this info from Viperkeeper !!

Nice job letting it fall to the hard surface below when you had two hooks ready right there that could have lowered him down slowly where the snake has a less likely chance of getting injured. Smart guy.

The Gaboon and Rhino vipers are my favorites in my personal collection. Has anyone else noticed that they have never seen them drink water. Been watching mine and the Puff adders for years and not once have I ever seen any one of them drink a drop of liquid period. They get the moisture from the food they eat.😅
