Excerpt from New York Times - Britney Spears Fights Father’s Fee Claim, Alleging Financial Misconduct

According to the court filing, Kroll’s investigation has identified several instances in which Mr. Spears engaged in financial misconduct, self-dealing and mismanagement as conservator.

The filing claimed Jamie Spears engaged in self-dealing as conservator when he sold Britney Spears’s childhood home to himself. It also said Jamie Spears had paid for his living expenses with his daughter’s funds, including close to $9,000 paid to Advanced Multimedia Partners, a business entity owned by James P. Watson III, the husband of Jamie Spears’s daughter Jamie Lynn Spears.

Ms. Ebadi also notes that Jamie Spears paid costs of $1.5 million related to upkeep of Britney Spears’s property in Louisiana — two to three times the value of the house — and evaded a question raised by the court as to the “extraordinarily high expenses.” She stated that more than $178,000 of the $1.5 million spent on the Louisiana residence was paid to Advanced Multimedia Partners.

I really hope this leads to awareness of the hundreds of thousands of elderly and disabled this is happening to. I know Britney has to focus on her own situation right now, but it would be awful if this spotlight on abuses of the guardianship/conservatorship system misses the tens of thousands who are abused who don’t have a movement to help them escape. I agree, that Britney never needed a conservatorship. They found a way to steal her money and poor Britney never had a way to fight back since all of her rights were taken away. I also believe Britney when she said she felt they were trying to kill her, especially when she refused to perform anymore. Many artists estates became worth much more when they died. I believe Britney's family may have had this in mind.

The more I hear about this family, it amazes me even more how Britney turned out the way she did. How can someone so kind and humble come from these greedy, money-hungry, fame-seeking thieves? The way Britney idolized her mother and even on Diary when she said she wishes she could be there more for JL (or something to that affect)....that's just so heart wrenching now to see what they have put her through when she truly and genuinely loved them.

Imagine growing up in someone's shadow and then suddenly having control of that person. Jamie-Lynn always felt her talents were superior to Britney and having Britney funnel in money to support Jamie-Lynn's family was a type of revenge. Britney, you can't choose your family, but you can choose not to let them ruin your life. This is a relationship that should not be repaired any time soon. Maybe when they're both elderly but not now. Britney needs to have them prosecuted and focus from then forward on her boys, maybe a baby, and building a life without any other Spears in it.
