I have ridden everything here except the Indian range. Without doubt I found the fit, finish & quality of the Goldwing to be the best. Having ridden motorcycles for 40 years in 20+ countries the Goldwing has always been the benchmark of touring quality. Thank goodness it still is.

Most riders who go on a couple of long distance motorcycle rides get caught up in weather, be that good or bad. One thing they eventually come back to is the distance they are willing to travel. You can travel on a 500cc bike just as well as a Rocket III with its 2458cc motor, but you get better gas mileage on that 500cc bike. So, if you are done with your 3 long distance rides that turned you off to the rain, sleet, cold and snow, then you will eventually want lighter and smaller for those 2 to 3 hour rides and that is where the smaller cruiser comes into play. Even an 800cc rides well and saves you a lot of money in the long run. What large bikes have I owned to say that? Kawasaki KZ900, Yamaha XS1100 Special, Honda CB750, HD FXR-P, HD Road King CVO, Honda Valkyrie, Kawasaki KZ1300A2 and B2, Honda Goldwing 1500 and 1800, Suzuki Cavalcade 1400, BMW K1200RS, BMW K1200R Sport, Kawasaki ZX12R, Honda CBR1000F, Kawasaki Vulcan Drifter 1500, BMW R1100RS, HD Softail Heritage Springer, 6 HD Sportster models, Yamaha Vmax 1200, Suzuki M109R or let's just say 42 motorcycles in 45 years of riding and none of them were dirt bikes. Which do I think is the best? I will let you know when I find it.... But, I do like the "feel" of the Harley V-Twin thumping down the road (music to the ears too). Which would I buy again? Valkyrie, Vmax 1200, M109R, HD Road King CVO with 103 cu in, Goldwing 1500SE, Goldwing 1800 and Drifter 1500 (looks is why). Most comfortable? Suzuki Cavalcade 1400.... Best handling? BMW K1200R Sport (I am not a power twistie rider). Longest trip on which bike? Valkyrie. Best grocery store runner? Goldwing 1500SE. Best to make short jaunts on? Kawasaki EN500 (not on the list above, but it was nice). Best gas mpg? HD Sportster 883 carburated (62 mpg at times)....

Goldwings are nice, but they dont entice the constant grins you get on a Rocket. Ive got almost 50000 miles on my 2020 GT and still cant stop the goofy grin when I twist the throttle.

I have a 2022 Rocket 3 GT (triple black) and it is a blast to ride. I wouldn't tour with it but that is not what I bought it for. It is a muscle cruiser through and through.

Round trip to Lake Tahoe and back on my 2022 BMW 1250 R/T was 308 miles on a single tank with fuel to spare...best touring bike for handling and braking.

Great video and yes I agree. The Goldwing is the pinnacle of touring motorcycle. I would absolutely love to own the Triumph Rocket 3. What a beautiful bike.

After having ridden a lot of these, I agree that the Wing wins has a down. I call it a sport cruiser because of the handling and cornering capabilities, especiallyin sport mode. It is better handling than any large American cruiser I've ever ridden. I know a lot of older guys bitched when they redesigned it in 2018, but it needed it. It's simply a joy to ride and has more bells and whistles than I know what to do with. I picked up the 2022 DCT touring model last week, and it is fanominal, no matter what I throw at it. Tight parking lots are a breeze! The double wishbone suspension is also incredible on rough roads. Even in a corner with bumps, the bike is solid.

Get yourself a Yamaha 2023 FJR1300 ES, nothing beats this Japanese machine interms of reliability. Fulfils all your requirements, comes with saddle boxes and you can install more too, best part is just costs 21k compared to 30K for fatbob

A Hayabusa? On a list of touring bikes and power cruisers the second entry is a hunched over, aggressive, top-speed machine with no luggage and the opposite of power-cruiser ergonomics.
Did you guys even read your own brief?

Without a doubt the Goldwing trumps all.

I went to purchase the Goldwing and ended up coming home the Indian Challenger. I have some regrets. 😮

I’ve ridden my 2019 HD Road King Special hundreds of miles in a weekend and it’s a super smooth and incredibly comfortable ride. Can’t possibly recommend more if you’re looking for a stripped down tourer that allows you to get that wind in your face feel. 😎👍🏻

I have the Goldwing Tour DCT and it is wonderful. I highly recommend it

Only ones I'd consider would be the Rocket or Busa. However if I was really doing major touring with a pillion it has to be the Goldwing.

Love that Rocket, the Goldwing is perfect (except the rear, not keen) but doesn't have the soul or kudos of that Brit machine, a bit like Punk or Rocker vs a clean cut Beatle fan, , Billy Idol vs Davy Jones, (I'm showing my age), I.m.h.o. plus owning the largest CC production motorcycle in the world is a bonus for bragging rights.

+1 for the hayabusa. Just put a little riser for the handlebars a touring windscreen and some saddlebags and you have one hell of a sports tourer. Also the Moto guzzi v100 is coming out. I think that might make the list for next year

Would have thought the Bussa and Kawa H2 were not in the class of the title. Otherwise a good informative video.
