The Democratic Party and the media say that adding tariffs will cause prices to skyrocket and household expenses to rise significantly. This is sheer nonsense. I have been in the import, export and marketing business my whole life, and I want to tell ordinary people how we face the problem of increased tariffs. For example, if import tariffs increase by 15%, first we will require foreign suppliers to bear half of the 7.5%, at least 6-7%; then we will reduce our company's gross profit by 5-6%; and then we will increase the price to sellers 2-3%. Generally speaking, sellers will keep the price on the shelf unchanged as they compete for market share. So it is impossible for prices to skyrocket. As long as the tariff increases at 30-40%, this ratio will remain the same. Some products have very low profit margins, so we will look for substitutes or give up importing them. Of course, we will also look for new competitive supply channels. If we have factories in certain taxing countries, we will consider moving or withdrawing to our own country.
