The Dot speaker sounded crappy to me so I went with the full size Echo. They both take up the same amount of countertop space but the Echo speaker sounds 100X better. I couldn't be bothered with an external speaker that takes up more counter space. Thanks for the review Jordan, very helpful.

I find the dot2 works much better with a good bandwidth, as soon as I start downloading 'ahem' stuff, it tends to struggle a bit and loses its connection. It's priced aggressively which is good and works well with my tp-link WiFi sockets which are also good value compared with others.

I got mine for $29 during Prime Day this past Monday! Let's just say connecting it to my existing Alexa app was more tedious than when I connected my Echo Show several months ago!

update 7 years ago the app automaticaly pairs with the echo dot to setup! I found 2 of the white echo dot 2nd gen model at a thrift store

Just got one today and about to open it. I know it will be useful and fun to have.

Mysteriously my set-up stops at the final set-up page in the app "Echo Dot Setup" and that page is blank and nothing happens after that. I tried the procedure at least ten times via my samsung cell phone and via my HP computer but non see the Dot.
I have had a full size Echo for a long time and it works fine... I noticed on your video your phone had some kind of wi-fi button that showed the available devices. I don't have that on my Samsung.

Mine tells me to connect to the Amazon-xxx Wi-Fi thing, but there is only the euphy one and it continues to tell me to do it. I JUST WANT TO SET UP MY BIRTHDAY GIFT

I got my Echo Dot today. Everything is working fine, except my hotspot wont work. The Alexa Echo Dot keeps saying "Unable to connect to Wi-fi hotspot." There is only wifi OR hotspot. Can someone help me
