French isnt a secondary education language. Its usually the primary one cz all of the scientific subjects, such as physics, chemistry, etc... are taught in french.

Silly ridiculous question,
The answer simply because they been occupied by france.

Like Mexicans speak spanish because of spainish occupation.
Pakistani speak english because of british

Because it was a French colony (EHEM...Mandate sorry), of course, they think that it's because the French love them and care for them, in reality, it's very simple when a country colonizes you, they'll spread their language, culture, and norms unto you, it isn't because of some sort of SpeCiaL RelAtioNsHIp, countries have interests, not relationships (in most cases, of course, there are exceptions, but when two countries actually DO have a special relationship they are usually two strong and powerful countries, not some small, tribal, and divided 3rd world country in the middle east.)

Actually less people are learning French nowadays in Lebanon. The interest of learning English is more common than learning French.

Hello Uptin as a Lebanese born and raised and married to a French ...I would like to comment the following since the Information are not accurate:
1-not everyone speaks French in Lebanon ... Mostly east, south, and north areas of Lebanon they dont speak French the majority
2-french president visits Lebanon not for the love of French to Lebanese geopolitically they want a foothold on the Mediterranean to have the resources as British has Cyprus Russia has Syria...Israel turkey Egypt ...etc
3-the largest immigration community of Lebanese immigrants is in Latin America not France so having the French passport doesn't make any special relationship
4-"french people tend to go to lebanon more than other country" is so WRONG anyone can check the statistics and Lebanon wasn't under french empire it was barley 20 years actually talking to french they don't know where Lebanon is they miss guide it with Libya often
5-"lebanese speaking other languages makes them open to other opinions and tolerant to others" I will just I leave this for your own experience
6-"our laws were imported by France" actually that was in the 1920s due to the mandate and they have never developed actually if u dig in the Lebanese laws we are so much delayed in comparison to other countries including France
MY PERSONAL OPINION: lebanese have nothing related to France and french society doesn't give a fuck about Lebanese is that part of the Lebanese community think by speaking French they have a more connection to Europe which makes them not Arabs because they believe Arabs are lower level than them which is stupid ofcourse. Lebanese communities they have extremely Arabic tribal mentality check it in their political system and religious blindness ....their leaders are by religion and descendance of the same reality no one in the world sees Lebanon more connected to Europe actually they see it another Arabic country ...french have more connection to Algeria and Tunisia than Lebanon.

A very insightful video. I heard about this before, still, the video was very informative. I agree with the guy who spoke at the end, English is the language of the world now. Chinese might compete with English in the future, but definitely not French.

Compared to North Africans I find the Lebanese speak French with a thick and recognizable Arabic accent.

English is IMO more prevalent than French in Lebanon.

To all Lebanese people, it is okay to speak French, but don't stop speaking Arabic. Arabic is part of your culture and heritage. In addition, Arabic is also a major language, just like English and French. If you guys can speak all of the three languages, you will have a major advantage on the global scale. Love Lebanon and Lebanese so much, from Norway 🇱🇧❤️💯 🇳🇴
