We had a English Springer Spaniel growing up and it was a great Dog. We lived on 11, 000 a good sized yard and then moved to 1 acre so she had plenty of room to run. There were wild rabbits that she loved to chase.

I did took out a lot my spaniel but i do remember he was very lazy more than my golden haha, so it really depends on the personality of the dog. He loved sleeping while i just play games or when mom cooked he loved to smell the oven with fresh pastries or food.

I once met an owner with a springer in the park when she proudly said it was a working line dog. I nearly laughed my head off, every other time I saw her after that she was flushed with exhaustion and frustration in equal measure.

Spaniels are the best!! I am high energy and have 2 Brittanys, had a springer and a brittany growing up too. They just need to workout-same as me!!

Couple of my colleagues and I have the luxury of being able to bring our dogs to work at a large golf course. One is a spaniel that you can tell is loving life, free to run and bound about all day, my mini schnauzer loves it too. Enjoys chasing the geese off the greens with immaculate recall. Very lucky

TRUE! We had a springer spaniel and he was insane. He was relentless when he saw water or a ball. We had to rescue him more than a few times because he would jump into ANY body without caution and wouldn’t listen to us if there was any water around. It didn’t matter if it was partially frozen. The only time we’d get a break was when we hit a tennis ball into the woods. He once spent two hours looking for it. EDIT: he lived to be 16, but we sure loved that crazy dog!

I think my cocker spaniel is broken… she likes to sleep in bed all day. I also have a horse so she goes to the farm every evening… as soon as she gets tired she sits at my feet and wants to be carried like a baby 🤷‍♀️

And then there was my tiny, teacup Yorkshire Terrier who could hike six hours a day and still not be tired.

Like any dog they respond to your energy. I will not have any other breed. Yes, if you are not able to give sufficient exercise then they are not for you. However, they love nothing more than curly up of the sofa with you. Mine also lay quietly at my feet for between 30mins to 1hr each day during my silent meditation. They will also lay quietly for a couple of hours in a cafe or pub no problem. If you exude a calm quiet confident energy, you will have a calm quiet dog. Have a hectic house full of excited energy and you will have a very excitable dog. Best breed in the world in my opinion. Definitely agree nothing better than seeing them work.
