#1 Reason: You have abandonment issues. If you get a GSD, you will never be alone ever again. Ever.

I grew up with a German shepherd. She protected us from a robbery on the street once and then protected me from a man who jumped the fence into our yard one day.
But she never once tried to harm me or anyone in our family...best dog ever.

My german shepherd Sherman is amazing and cross trained in obedience, assists with helping me maintain my balance and reaching thing when my MS acts up. He is also amazing with the children in the next door park and I show kids how obedience helps him help me

I've had many rescue German Shepherds in my lifetime, some were purebred, some were mixes. Loved them all!

Due to traumatic childhood experiences, i used to be terrified of larger dogs until my met my best friend’s German Shepherd. Despite her size she’s genuinely the most beautiful and affectionate dog I’ve ever met, and although she can be protective when needs be she was always very gentle around me. Now i just wish i had a GS of my own!

Couldn’t agree more. We’ve had GS’s for the past decade, and my wife and I have loved every minute of it. Very protective. Loyal. Great personalities. Very trainable. We dug deep to find out why they bite. Sometimes we found…. because they misinterpret actions that they see as dangerous to us. such a shaking our neighbors hand. Wonderful dogs.

I’ve had two in my life. The heartbreak is the hip dysplasia. They are the smartest, mot loving, loyal and sensitive protectors.

My first german shepherd was a showline she only lived close to age 8 she had a huge mass attached to her spleen. So painful losing her. She was great with my cats and children. She was my dream dog as a child and i had to wait to get my own home before i got her. She made me believe in the breed and taught me so much both in life and after her passing 💔 RIP Shiloh. My 2nd GSD another showline was an awful experience. Her heart was failing her only 25 days in of bringing her home. A major heart valve issue. RIP Dixie. My 3rd GSD a working line She is 10 weeks old. I absolutely love her and the working line. She reminds me of my first sweet girl. She was heaven sent. RIEKA 🐺 has my heart and i love her drive. She love to guard the soccer ball as we play and shes good making sure i dont score 🤣 and she's a super fun pup! Nothing better than a dog and ill forever have a special place in my heart for German Shepherds ♥️

Careful though, we ended up rehoming our German shepherd we got as an 8 week old after a year with her. Broke our hearts but she was WILD! Would refuse to let us ever separate if our for a walk. Show aggression just because another dog or person would walk close by despite all the training. The final straw was when she started eating her own poop. Vet visits, nothing was wrong. We gave her CONSTANT attention with a full house…We took her to so many classes and training and multiple people said she should’ve been a police dog. She also needed THREE 1 hour walks/runs a day on top of playing together for hours…THEN she would settle down but not even much. It was so extreme!! Girl was like that from day one. We wondered if the breeder gave us a neurologically “messed up” puppy? Their energy is just too much for a young family with little ones. The hours of time day in and day out just trying to help her settle and nap, even once was unbearable. She barely slept too. Poor thing maybe had doggy adhd or ocd??
If you’re single and incredibly physically active, absolutely amazing breed for you! Only perk was she was SOOO gentle with the kiddos. They’d pull and push her, but she knew they were a part of the “pack” so she never would hurt them! ❤❤

Omg! My German Shepherd is blowing out her coat right now so I can relate to the globs of hair you just showed! 😂😮 She is highly intelligent and is being trained to be my Service Dog. She's a great dog and I'm so proud of her. ❤
