I feel like, canonically, that the lord of frenzied flame did it out of spite. They hated the lands between, everything they were put through, all the people they grew close to only to have them all ripped away just like that. So they gave up. They gave up any possible path that may have been open to them, all the mending runes they may have collected, alternate routes proposed by people like Ranni, and those left alive with the possibility of brighter futures, like Boc, Raya or Nepheli. all of that reduced to an endless sea of yellow flame. In the end, I think Melina's words right before you inherit the flame, say it best; 'It is chaos, devouring life and thought unending. The frenzied flame ending just feels like giving up to me. To me it’s as if I’m giving into the world, taking the easy way out instead of actually making the hard choices and trying to improve the world that you’ve been traveling through. Plus it’s not like every character has a bad ending, there’s multiple characters you can save by just going through their quests normally (like Nepheli) and even more if you do some shenanigans (Boggart and Sellen), the decision to burn the world deliberately kills them and takes away the happy endings that they had.
