Matt Flynn was exactly what you needed from a backup QB and was an awesome guy. Crazy that all of these men trained their entire lives to only get one or two opportunities before being injured or benched, I hope all are doing well.

Chris Matthews Torched the Pats defense that game in 2014 until Kyle Arrington got benched. Brandon Browner was able to neutralize him, which is why he wasn't effective much in the 4th quarter. Also, that Jonas Gray game is also remembered for what Gronk did by tackling Sergio Brown out of the club.

Matt Flynn also came back to GB in '13 and brought us back from 27-3 in Dallas to win and keep us in the playoff chase, and then Rodgers came back for the finale to beat the Bears in the 4th-and-8 game. So I'd call Flynn a 2-hit wonder!

Rob Johnson didn't make the cut ? Wow. That one game for the Jaguars basically got him that big contract from Buffalo and set him up for life.

Larry Brown is unique because he didn't actually have to do much of anything in that Super Bowl. The Steelers QB threw the ball directly to him both times. All he had to do was catch the ball as if he was playing toss in the park as a kid. It's not as though he made spectacular reads on the QB or made great breaks on the passes.

That's pretty insane to hear that Tyree never caught another pass in the NFL after SB42. That memory of the helmet catch will forever be etched in my mind and is one of the first SB's I remember all the details of.

As a Washingtonian, I remember Timmy Smith very well. I understand he had a drug problem, which also hindered his career.

Those Washington counter treys with Timmy Smith were things of beauty! Watching those pulling linemen cross the field in front of Timmy was something else. I miss those days of running backs.

NFL Top 10 One Shot Wonders from 2007 was in my opinion the best episode of NFL Top 10.

Glad to see that topic revisited in the Throwback series.

WR are most common on these lists because teams have so many of them and it is also the easiest position to replace.

Pittsburgh's Markus Wheaton was good but they had 5 or 6 WR on those teams that were even better. He had 2 seasons with over 640 yards receiving as a non starter(which means he isn't a 1 hit wonder) which just happened to be the only 2 seasons he played more than a couple plays. He retired at 27 to take care of his 3 children and to keep his body mostly healthy.
