2020 Lexus GX 460 | MotorWeek First Drive

While we were in Costa Rica last month, we took some time to drive the 2020 Lexus GX.

Great body-on-frame SUV (as is it's 4Runner cousin) but Toyota is sadly in need of updating these models. They (along with the Land Cruiser and LX570) have grown very long in the tooth and they certainly have not come down in price!

So basically, new front grille, new headlights, more USB ports, different interior colour options, new wood paneling in the interior, and that's it.

I had a 2009 model...best suv ever! What were they smoking in Japan when they designed that front grill on this 2020? + interior is so square... I am waiting for them to update the interior on these.

Unpopular Opinion: The looks are sick and timeless, the entire Land Cruiser family (including GX, LX) is amazing just the way it is right now

I have no problem with the cargo door opening sideway even it's weird. But is there a reason why the door goes to the passenger side direction? It's very inconvenient and unpractical. When you park at the road shoulder or by the sidewalk to unload or load something, If you load/unload a long/large item, you have to turn/tilt it to the traffic if you dont have full space behind you. Moreover, you have to either close the cargo door or go around the car because the door blocks you from entering the sidewalk.

I’m not mad they did not change much. It’s a beautiful reliable truck. Mercedes G Wagon has never changed

Outdated look and Tech, Simple Buttons and Whistles, Slow and Tank ride but i find this SUV attractive. Im getting one of these in the near future.

Yes very reliable and built to last.Does not depreciate rapidly like Bmw, Mercedes, Land Rover Audi. Cheeper to maintain parts are cheeper.

I guess It's nice to know they added a third headlight, updated the grill and made some safety package standard...

This is literally exactly the same as the previous 10 years other then the grill and a couple other features. I love the ruggedness but let’s get real Lexus update this thing
