This vehicle drives much better than a 4Runner. If it is my money, I would for a used GX. These vehicles are dead reliable. Good luck breaking one. I have one with 150k miles. Only issue has been the battery. It is annoying they have outdated tech but they fulfill their role better than any vehicle. Built like tanks, smooth as butter, classy, reliable, comfortable, and yet refined. What else can you ask for?

No one cares about swinging door, this truck is amazing in every way, V8 is amazing, most reliable truck, and amazing offroad truck.

Swing gate is perfect for my garage and taller guys like me don’t like lift gates. Tell me a V8 that gets good mpg. People that can afford this truck don’t worry about mpg. And tech has completely killed car culture. The only tech I want is a backup camera everything else is a distraction. The 4Runner’s V6 is under powered while only getting a couple mpg’s better. And the 4Runner has no headroom again a problem for a taller guy like me. GX 460 is a no brainer better choice. I got the GX premium model for same price as nightshade 4Runner.

Being tall, I welcome the side swinging door. My wife loves my creative yet descriptive word choice after hitting my head on the tailgate of her car. This vehicle is on my list to replace my Wrangler which also has a side swinging door.

We have a swing-out hitch with a full size spare tire on our SUV and we've never once had an issue with space in parking lots.

Have had a 2016 GX for almost 4 years, and I love the swing-out hatch. I've never been in a situation where I couldn't get into it in a parking lot, etc.

He suggests a 4Runner instead, but you can't get a V8 in that vehicle. The engine/transmission is very strong and smooth - not peaky, searching for a gear, etc.

Not a more luxurious Land Cruiser; it’s based on the Toyota Prado. It’s also due for a ground up revision in the next 2 years.

You should mention the semi aniline leather for the luxury trim. It is a very durable natural leather and huge upgrade compared to the leatherette of the base model.

I really like this vehicle, but I hope Lexus catches onto the fact that lots of people are now using these GX460s as toy haulers/weekend adventure/ overland vehicles so the make a few updates with the next generation. The GX460 is an extremely capable and reliable 4WD, but the bodywork really hampers where it can go. In my opinion the body work is the biggest issue on the GX460. Lexus needs to redo the bodywork, especially the low front end, running boards and big rear to improve the approach, break over and departure angles. It could also use a few engine tweaks for better MPG, upgraded technology like Android Auto/Apple CarPlay and wireless charging.

I kinda hate its feature where you need to turn on the air conditioner on the screen rather than buttons...I believe there's a big chance that the screen might go lag and it's already boiling hot inside🏺🏺
