"Wealth will never be distributed evenly".
There will only be rich or poor in the next 10 years.
Nothing in between.
It's better if you prepare yourself early on.
Also, don't let them deceive you into thinking that AI is coming for your good (It's only for them).

I want AI to free us from slavery. Give us our life back.

If gov't won't guarantee the Social Security benefits earned over a 40 year working career, it will NOT provide a livable UBI benefit to millions more who have never held a job!

As someone who is very intimate with government’s abilities, this is scary af, the government is terribly slow and reminds me of a very very uneducated child. I have zero confidence in its ability to help mitigate anything. It can’t even solve traffic issues in a decent way.

I appreciate that you're focusing on the economic impacts of AI development, not just the technological aspects. We all know that we can either watch the wealthy get richer while we are left behind, or we can have a chance to share in the economic benefits.

The rich are getting richer, and the poor are getting poorer. Rich are doing less, poor are doing more.

It is amazing to me how people keep asking question about "what am I going to do if I am not working?". Well, first of all, how about asking the millions of retired people that are not working. They will give you advice on what to do everyday. I just retired last year and I keep my self very busy on my hobbies, playing with my cats, travel, eating out, watching great films, going to the gym...and things I wanted to do but could not do because I was working and did not have the time. At worse, just ask your AI assistance for some ideas.

I assume all resources will skyrocket in price. As homelessness increases, policies will be introduced to house them in rural camps which will develop into shanty flavelas. It will look something like the hunger games.

2.5% sounds very stingy given how rich these companies will be. Plus, apparently people will lose jobs worth $100, 000K a year in order to get a measly $13, 000. It sounds like a joke.

My worry is the people at the top may not have immediate interest in lowering prices for essentials. What motivates them to reduce their profits when they can just keep things expensive and get even higher profits.

The part where he said "a ceiling for nobody" made me nervous. That means, to me, that there is going to be a 1 percent mega-rich class that is basically an aristocracy because when you are that wealthy, you hold so much more power. Also, if there is a floor, it should be as reasonably generous and comprehensive as possible. If robots and AI are going to be doing all the work, then why should anyone live in any form of austerity? If we have a government, it should be democratically elected, and we should have term limits. No one should get too powerful that they are basically a king or an oligarch who could buy a robot army and force their will on society. So yes, I think there should be a reasonable wealth ceiling and that all excess should go back into the system for the benefit of the public. Thank you.

“Labor is losing its competitiveness!”

“There’s so much change coming that people don’t realize.” This is so true. I really enjoyed this video! It was insightful and thought-provoking, highlighting important trends and shifts that we all need to be aware of. Keep up the great work!

If most of the world becomes poor from unemployment, Who the F— is going to buy all this stuff?
Seriously, the trickle-down effect means entire segments of the economy will go out of business. Everything from nail techs to cosmetic surgeons, even essentials such as dentistry will lose business because people are in dire straights.

imagine getting exponentially more capable systems and more intellegence into the world and it ruins peoples lives. what a joke of a system.

The price of labour will drop but the price of materials will skyrocket since resources on earth are fixed. This is why so many billionaires are buying vast amounts of undeveloped property.

Would be interesting to ask Altman "what about the Bangladeshi? The Eritreans? The Brazilians?"

In the 70s, we had big cheap houses with big yards, but few gadgets. In the 30s, we may be able to fill our vans with cheap gadgets, but then, where do we sleep?
