Drama: What if Obi-Wan saved Maul?

This was a scenario requested by a friend asking what would have gone down if Obi-Wan saved Maul after their fight on Tattooine. The scenario itself is a bit out there, but I think I did ok with the writing here.

Imagine a Luke, trained in the white and dark side of the force. Neither a Jedi or a Sith but wise and powerful as both

[As maul pondered everything that led to him being here on this desert wasteland, he boarded a ship and left the planet. He had finally let go of his desire to kill kenobi, but his hatred will never fade. Maul will never forget kenobi, but he will never seek him out again…]

Now there is a scenario I've never thought of before. It feels right actually. I could see Maul running into Luke at some point after this and that could be an interesting one in itself.

Or perhaps even meeting Kenobi's Force ghost.

I wonder if in a scenario like this, would Maul have tried to find Ahsoka, or search for Ezra. To be able to forge a relationship that was revolving around the master and apprentice dynamic he only knew, If he would return home, if he would feel gratitude to Luke for indirectly avenging Savage, and if when his old master was dead, would have turned his rage into a purpose and thrown it behind a cause, setting ablaze the remnants of the dream of the man who had caused him so much pain.

What if's almost never feel like something that could be canon. Usually the nexus of a what if is something that just cannot happen according to the unspoken rules of Cinema and drama. But with this, this feels... canon. Kenobi does not break character, neither does Maul. It would have, if Maul then suddenly realized what a slave to hate he is, which is just no longer possible in the bottomless pit of hate that he is trapped in.
