I Was Almost ARRESTED At The Airport

Today I was almost wrongfully arrested for filming in an airport while preparing for a flight to review an airline. I flew from Ottawa (YOW) to Toronto (YYZ) and while I was preparing to review Porter Airlines I was confronted by security for having a camera even though it was a public space!

After flying Ryanair known as The World's Worst Airline and Spirit Airlines which is known as America's Worst Airline, Canada's Worst Airline and many more, today I was taking a flight on Canada's Best up and coming airline Porter.

To further clarify - It was not Porter's fault, it was the YOW (Ottawa Airport). Definitely a crazy experience haha

Fun Fact: the plane you flew on, the Dash 8-400 or Q400, is built in Downsview in Toronto. However, the production line will be moved to Calgary in a few years

You should file a complaint or worst case consult with an attorney. What YOW claimed is absolutely ridiculous and doesn't make sense at all. It is public space, just like other airports including Toronto and Vancouver.

You should try Air France. I took a flight with Air France and it was by far the best airline I have been on.

I’ve seen review videos made all around the world. This “not allowed to film” business is usually BS, and coming from people who don’t know what the laws actually are.

I never heard of this happening to anyone before. Almost all airports are publicly owned which you can film. I did it back in USA airports and I had no issues.

The airport is owned by Transport Canada meaning it’s public. You can legally record here. This guy’s on a power trip
