I would recommend reading Ashtavakra Gita when you reach intermediate level...bcoz it's the purest scripture on Advaita vedanta...also after that you can read Avdhut Gita and Ribhu Gita🙏♥️

Sabse basic book which is easiest is Vivek choodamani composed by Jagadguru Adi Shankaraachaary, published by Geeta Press, and bhagwan is obviously "Bramhan" But it's abhivyakti happens in the form of 5 deties that are Shiva, Durga, Vishnu, Ganesh and Surya, that also to upkeep this Maya rachit Shrishti.

A little correction:- It doesn't say your true self is God, What it says is " You are God " When you say your true self, there exists duality (dwaita) you and the self but Advaita means not two or non duality.
